A boisterous, topical and entertaining year of theatre is on offer for South Australians in the 2021 season from State Theatre Company South Australia. 

The 'Off Broadway in the Boros: Pop-Ups' series was a way to call attention to the important contribution small theatres make to New York City's cultural fabric, while also providing support for artists and organizations struggling during the pandemic.

The Sol Project announced today full details for the third annual SolFest: A Latinx Theater Festival, produced in partnership with Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT) and in collaboration with the Play At Home initiative and North Star Projects.

Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT)a?"NYC's longest-running theater company centering Puerto Rican and Latinx artistrya?"announces the opening of its 2020/2021 season with Remojo 2020: a preview of new works in development. Featuring five 30-minute especially produced episodes, Remojo 2020 will be broadcast FREE on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. EDT July 6-August 3 through Zoom, Pregones/PRTT's website, and additional digital platforms.

'We bear witness and mourn for the continued violence against yet another Black life at the hands of police, and we speak from the deepest impulses of our hearts to uplift Black Lives. We are enraged by the blatant hatred and inhumane disregard by police for George Floyd's life as he pleaded for breath.

This year will mark the 20th edition of the NALAC Leadership Institute. The program brings a cohort of Latinx arts and cultural practitioners together for the common purpose of leadership and professional development. As we reflect on twenty years of leadership development, we have witnessed the collective power, ingenuity and relationships that arise from the intentional sharing of space.

Today, Mayor Bill de Blasio appointed members to the following Sector Advisory Councils: Labor and Workforce; Large Business; Small Business; and Arts, Culture, and Entertainment. Sector Advisory Councils will inform the Administration's efforts to restart the economy and city life. The councils will serve as critical links to disseminate information about re-opening and provide guidance to shape the City's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Membership of the councils on Faith, Construction and Real Estate, Non-Profits and Social Services, Public Health and Healthcare, Education and Vocational Training, and Surface Transportation will be announced in the coming days.

Aluna Theatre and Nightwood Theatre's production of THE SOLITUDES, directed by Bea Pizano, is an interesting glimpse into the lives of eight very different women's lives, histories, and bloodlines. Despite strong creative elements and performances, the dozens of ideas that are brought up rarely connect; at times this might be intentional, to show the differences between the women, but even in moments where there is opportunity for connection and healing over common trauma, actors remain isolated in their own stories.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) has selected the semifinalists for the 32nd annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, to be presented in the Wortham Theater Center on Feb. 7, 2020 at 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets for the performance are available for purchase here. Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater announces premiere of a new ensemble musical ¡GUARACHA!, based on international hit novel La guaracha del Macho Camacho by Luis Rafael Sánchez. Initially conceived in collaboration with the late Miriam Colón, the work of adaptation and direction is helmed by Rosalba Rolón, whose many musical theater credits as Artistic Director of Pregones/PRTT include audience favorites I Like It Like That and Dancing In My Cockroach Killers. ¡GUARACHA!

Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theatera?'NYC's foremost theater company championing Latinx cultural expression and centering Puerto Rican artistrya?'will premiere ¡GUARACHA! on Friday, November 15. ¡GUARACHA! is an ensemble musical adapted from the acclaimed satirical novela?'La guaracha del Macho Camacho (Macho Camacho's Beat) by Luis Rafael Sánchez. In creating the book and lyrics for ¡GUARACHA!, Pregones/PRTT Artistic Director Rosalba Rolón relayed Sanchez's incisive wit and humor through original music by Pregones/PRTT's Musical Director Desmar Guevara, and performances by a Latinx acting ensemble and a live five-piece band.

The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) announces the selection of 31 Latinx artists and cultural workers who will participate in the NALAC Leadership Institute taking place July 15-20, 2019, in San Antonio, TX. In its 19th edition, the annual arts management program focuses on building the capacity of arts professionals through the lens of Latinx arts and cultures.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced today the Nominating Committee for the 2019-2020 Broadway season. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The second offering of the Flemish Dance Season at the Baxter Theatre was a contemporary performance blurring the lines of boxing and dance; but leaving no confusion to the level of skill presented on stage.

The Sol Project, the national theater initiative dedicated to amplifying Latinx voices and building a body of work for the new American theater, is proud to announce dates for the second annual SolFest: A Latinx Theater Festival, produced in partnership with Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT). The festival will run from June 17 - 19 at PRTT (304 West 47th Street, New York, NY 10036).

From 4 to 8 June 2019, two outstanding dance companies from Flanders in Belgium will be performing at the Baxter Theatre Centre, following on from their successful seasons at the Klein Karoo Kunstefees in March and at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg at the end of May.
