The Colony Theatre in Burbank has announced four performances of A Little Night Music In Concert from September 21 24. The concert presentation of this classic musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler will be directed by Laura Stribling and feature musical direction by Jennifer Lin. Sarah Jo Provost serves as assistant director.

For Kritzerland's 80th show - let's repeat that - for the 80th show and seventh anniversary of Kritzerland shows, the longest-running cabaret show of its kind in LA history, Kritzerland presents The Songs That Got Away VII, its super-duper, crazy mixed-up anniversary show.

For the 79th Kritzerland show, we present the magical music of Mancini - Henry Mancini, one of the most successful film composers and songwriters in history.  From Peter Gunn to Mr. Lucky, to Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charade, Days of Wine and Roses to Two for the Road, The Pink Panther and Hatari, and straight through to first the film of Victor/Victoria and then the stage version, Mancini Magic has been the music of people's lives. 

Manhattan Theatre Club's acclaimed production of 'Heisenberg' by Tony Award and two-time Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens opened July 6 as part of Center Theatre Group's 50th Anniversary Season. This insightful and entertaining new play comes to the Taper June 28 through August 6, 2017.

Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep) has a robust summer season planned, which is already in progress. Its offerings consist of plays, cabaret, jazz, and classical music. This weekend, Perry Ojeda, who played Gabey in the 1998 Broadway Revival of ON THE TOWN, will perform in concert. Mr. Ojeda will sing the songs of Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

 Kritzerland announces a new concert event coming on Sunday, May 7, 2017 entitled "May Madness." This entertaining evening will take place at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal in North Hollywood, California. The 77th Kritzerland show will feature fun and fancy-free "May Madness" offerings.  It's an anything goes show, culled from a whole potpourri of eclectic and unusual material.  Surprises are in store.

On Saturday, May 13, 2017, following the 2 p.m. matinee performance of Fiasco Theater's "Into the Woods" at the Ahmanson Theatre, Center Theatre Group will throw a cast party for all the Bakers and Witches, Cinderellas and Princes, Milky Whites, et al., who have ever appeared in a production of "Into the Woods."

There are undoubtedly other productions worthy of merit in 2016 which I did not cover. This list is based only on what I saw and reviewed. (alphabetical listings; Equity, Equity-waiver & Non-Equity productions are mixed) (artists performing outside LA may be included in performance categories) No set, costume, technical awards. I leave that to the bigger awards and to the expertise of those who really know those fields inside out.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCoy Rigby Entertainment present the second show of its 2016-2017 season: Davis Gaines starring in the hilarious comedy LEND ME A TENOR, written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Art Manke. 3-D Theatricals, Orange County's most distinguished regional musical theatre production company, presents the Tony Award-winning spectacular HELLO, DOLLY! starring Valerie Perrias Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi. The Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.) Benefit titled Sondheim 5, took place June 18th at Beverly Hills' beautiful Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in benefit of AIDS Project Los Angeles.  The much anticipated event, was once again directed by David Galligan.  Michael Orland served as Musical Director, with Choreography by Lee Martino; and BroadwayWorld TV's own Michael Sterling was on hand to talk to the stars just prior to their first of two performances.
