Bah humbug! Even the most hard-hearted will find it difficult to keep a smile off their face when the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, comes to the Contemporary Theater Company stage in Wakefield December 5th - 22th. This is the theater's second year producing A Christmas Carol, and director Maggie Cady is excited to explore a traditional telling with a few surprises along the way.

On June 20th, the Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford kicked off its sixth season by welcoming fourteen young actors to Stratford, CT. Coming from as close as New York City and as far as the UK and Mexico, the group will spend six weeks training and performing on the property that once housed the American Shakespeare Festival Theater.

There are few musicals with as prominent a place in the American theatrical canon as 'Gypsy'*. It's a big musical, meant for a proscenium stage, and while the Contemporary has mounted a creditable production, their attempt to fit it into a smaller theatre has not been entirely successful.

Shakespeare Academy @ Startford's Artistic Director Brian McManamon invites the public to attend free public performances of Measure for Measure and The Tempest in rotating repertory on the grounds of The Shakespeare American Festival Theater from July 29th-August 6th. McManamon will direct Measure for Measure, which opens July 30th at 8:00 p.m. and Guest Director Jessi D. Hill will direct The Tempest, which opens on July 29th at 6:30 p.m.

The Collegiate Chorale raised more than $300,000 at its annual Spring Benefit featuring the U.S. premiere of Kurt Weill and Franz Werfel's The Road of Promise at Carnegie Hall on May 7, 2015. Proceeds will go toward The Chorale's artistic and education initiatives.
