Never before have audiences responded with such startling enthusiasm and thunderous applause to a Nashville Repertory Theatre opening night - at least in my memory and I've been reviewing shows at the Rep for 30 years now - than what I witnessed last night as Avenue Q kicked off the company's 2018-19 season in astonishingly irreverent style. Theater historians would have a hard time finding a production in which Nashville Rep audiences had a better time celebrating diversity and internet porn while watching two puppets have unbridled and unrestrained sex even if they lack some of the parts necessary to consummate the act.

Nashville Repertory Theatre will open its 2018-19 season - its 33rd - with a production of the Broadway hit musical Avenue Q, opening on September 8 at the Andrew Johnson Theatre at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is excited to launch the 2018-2019 season with the three-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Avenue Q," an uproarious adult parody of children's puppet shows like "Sesame Street", "The Muppets", and "Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood".  Created by by duo Robert Lopez ("Book of Mormon", "Frozen", "Coco") and Jeff Marx, "Avenue Q" has been shocking and delighting audiences since its premier in 2003.  This modern classic won three Tony Awards, including the "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book.

Back by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which has played multiple sold-out engagements, returns to Detroit's Fisher Theatre, December 4-9. 2018. New York: For over 50 years TheaterWorksUSA has presented family-friendly adaptations of celebrated books on stages across the country.  This fall, TheaterWorksUSA will be offering its trademark brand of quality entertainment at Long Island's Tilles Center with their new musical Rosie Revere, Engineer & Friends, with a book by Lauren Gunderson, music by Brian Lowdermilk, lyrics by Kait Kerrigan and originally directed by Peter Flynn and choreography by Marcos Santana. The Book of Mormon, Broadway's smash hit musical written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, is coming to Brisbane and Adelaide.

Manoa Valley Theatre is celebrating its momentous 50th Anniversary with a play season filled with star-studded audience favorites, Broadway blockbusters and compelling dramas that herald the next half-century for the noted Off-Broadway playhouse. During its anniversary season, MVT will present a spectrum of multi- disciplinary experiences including musical comedies, historical dramas and audience participation events. New collaborations and partnerships are just two of the many features of the season. In what will be a world premiere, MVT has commissioned an original script, Shipment Day, about well-known leprosy activist Olivia Robello Breitha and Hawaii's leprosy history. It will also produce the Hawaii premiere of Allegiance, a Broadway musical about the Japanese American internment during WWII and one family's extraordinarily divisive experience.

Avenue Q recently celebrated its 15th Anniversary, with big events such as a concert at Feinstein's/54 Below. In addition, in the weeks leading up to the show's big night, original cast members made appearances in the show.
