The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) today announced the nine productions of its 2019 2020 subscription season: Tennessee Williams' classic family drama The Glass Menagerie; Shakespeare's rollicking comedy Twelfth Night; an adaptation of Emma based on the Jane Austen novel; and Kander and Ebb's musical Cabaret will grace the Guthrie's signature Wurtele Thrust Stage while the McGuire Proscenium Stage's lineup will include Robert Harling's female-driven comedy Steel Magnolias; the regional premiere of Noura, Heather Raffo's complex tale of identity; Anne Bogart's acclaimed production of Euripides' The Bacchae; Karen Zacar as' comedic telenovela Destiny of Desire; and Lynn Nottage's Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat.

Robert Harling's critically acclaimed comedy-drama 'Steel Magnolias' opens at Algonquin Arts Theatre on Saturday, February 23, at 8 p.m.

The McCallum Theatre presents L.A. Theatre Works' production of Steel Magnolias on Monday, February 25, at 7:00pm. Strong as steel and delicate as magnolias. The six women of Chinquapin, Louisiana, face life's ups and downs together in this beloved comedy/drama. Truvy's home beauty parlor is their gathering place, where they gossip, needle, and jab each other through the best of times and comfort and repair one another through the worst. Based on the hit Off-Broadway show that became a star-studded motion picture in 1989, this is a funny, poignant tale of female friendship and the unbreakable mother-daughter bond.

L.A. Theatre Works will bring its signature radio-theater hybrid style to Morristown on Friday, March 8 as it presents Steel Magnolias.  The play is a funny, heartbreaking story of female empowerment and resilience by Robert Harling, is directed by Brian Kite and features a company of six diverse women including Shannon Holt, Elisa Bocanegra, Monica McSwain, Inger Tudor, Cerris Morgan-Moyer and Patti Yasutake.

Featuring a group of travelers who find themselves thrown together on a Middle Eastern expedition, the 'Queen of Crime' offers a unique take on the classic murder mystery, where characters' motivations are suspect and relationships may not be what they seem. First performed at the Piccadilly Theatre in London on March 31, 1945, APPOINTMENT WITH DEATH remains fresh and exciting today.

California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) Acting Conservatory students bring southern charm to Los Angeles County in their upcoming production of "Steel Magnolias," a story about dealing with loss through love and friendship. Taking place at the Sierra Madre Playhouse in October, this production is the first of the 2018-2019 school year for the Acting Conservatory, and stars an all-female cast of students in grades nine through 12.
