The Company Theatre has announced its upcoming production of Steel Magnolias, which ties the bonds between a group of Southern belles as they support one another through life's trials and tribulations. The play served as the inspiration for the 1989 hit movie of the same name.
The Duluth Playhouse is sending its audiences to the beauty parlor when it presents Robert Harling's hilarious comedy, Steel Magnolias, which will be performed January 30-February 9, 2020 at the NorShor Theatre. This show is directed by Playhouse veteran, Julie Ahasay.

Playwright Robert Harling based the STEEL MAGNOLIAS story on his experience with the death of his diabetic sister. As her best friend and closest sibling, Harling found it difficult to cope with losing her, and his friends advised him to write about his feelings as a coping method. What began as a short story then evolved into a full-length play due to the complexity of the relationships and emotions that existed among the female characters who are a?oeas delicate as magnolias but as tough as steela?? who utilize humor and lighthearted conversations to cope with the seriousness of life's underlying situations.
STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a much beloved play and film full of the charms of the South and the wit and resilience of the women who inhabit it.
