Seattle Opera Presents LA TRAVIATA
by Rebecca Russo - Nov 28, 2016

Seattle Opera rings in the New Year with some of the most glorious music in all of opera: Verdi's La traviata, the original Moulin Rouge. German Stage Director Peter Konwitschny has created an "excitingly rebellious" (A Younger Theater) production that takes an uncompromising look at moral hypocrisy. In this story, practically all of Paris rushes in as voyeurs to watch the demise of the town's dying "It Girl"-a modern-day courtesan named Violetta. The crowd, withmore concern for their entertainment than her health, foists a new admirer on her: a young, socially awkward bookworm named Alfredo. While love seems like it could be a distraction, there's ultimately no denying the darkness that descends on Verdi's heroine. Presented without intermission, the "non-stop music keeps the audience riveted throughout" (Express, UK).

by Christina Mancuso - Feb 11, 2016

Fans who have missed local roots band Yankee Bravo will have an opportunity to see them perform soon.  Officially on hiatus, Yankee Bravo will be part of the entertainment at the Canton Symphony Orchestra's Blue Jean Ball on March 18 at Brookside Farms in Louisville, Ohio. The Blue Jean Ball is a pre-cursor to the CSO's MasterWorks concert on March 19 featuring the World Premiere of Grammy nominee Béla Fleck's second banjo concerto.  'We are honored and looking forward to coming out of our hibernation to be part of such a great event celebrating Béla Fleck and the Canton Symphony,' noted Yankee Bravo's Benjamin Payne.  Celebrating the Americana roots genre, the casual “Ball” will include a picnic-style menu, cash bar, guest bartenders, entertainment, silent auction and a special non-musical appearance by Mr. Fleck.
