Cutting Ball Theater Presents UNCLE VANYA

Cutting Ball Theater kicks off its 2018/2019 Season, celebrating 20 years since the company's founding and first production, with a vivid reimagining of Anton Chekhov's enduring classic UNCLE VANYA in a translation by Paul Schmidt. Uncle Vanya is directed by Paige Rogers, Cutting Ball Theater's co-founder and recently exited Artistic Director, the culminating project of Rogers' tenure at Cutting Ball's creative helm. Uncle Vanya opens in preview performances on September 21 and runs through October 21. Press Opening is scheduled for September 27 at 7pm with an Opening performance to follow on September 28 at 8pm. When Rob Melrose and Paige Rogers founded Cutting Ball Theater in 1999, they could scarcely have imagined that the company would be going strong twenty years later, or that the company's twentieth season would be a celebration of their legacy as they turned the reins of the company over to one of the Bay Area's most exciting young artistic talents. Cutting Ball Theater has announced a robust five-project line-up for its 2018/2019 Season, marking the company's 20th anniversary of crafting and presenting experimental theater in San Francisco and ushering in its Artistic Director transition.

Rob Melrose to Direct TIMON OF ATHENS At Cutting Ball

This spring Cutting Ball Theater welcomes the return of Founding Artistic Director Rob Melrose to direct Shakespeare's neglected classic, TIMON OF ATHENS, the final play of the Theater's 2017-18 Season. In the title role of Timon, Brennan Pickman-Thoon leads a cast that includes Ed Berkeley, Maria Ascension Leigh, Adam Niemann, Doug Nolan, Radhika Rao, David Sinaiko, John Steele Jr. and Courtney Walsh. Timon of Athens opens in previews on March 30 and runs through April 29.
