THE NIGHT BUSTER KEATON DREAMED ME to Have West Coast Premiere at 24th Street Theatre

24th Street Theatre finds color in the lives of two orphan girls living in a silent film world of black, white and varying shades of gray. Debbie Devine directs the West Coast premiere of Kerry Muir's magical, surreal, dream-like movie-within-a play, The Night Buster Keaton Dreamed Me, for an April 11 opening. Performances will continue through May 31, with low-priced previews taking place March 28 through April 5.

DanceWorks Presents Propeller's FLESH & SPOKES AND SPASTICUS 

DANCEWORKS presents PROPELLER DANCE's double bill of FLESH & SPOKES and SPASTICUS. This production is presented by Ottawa-based disability arts/integrated dance company PROPELLER DANCE and was created and choreographed by Renata Soutter and Liz Winkelaar. These two pieces encourage us to challenge perceived notions, open our hearts and celebrate diverse bodies and minds. Premiering at Fleck Dance Theatre (Harbourfront Centre), March 13 - 14, 2020.

The Metropolitan Opera Has Announced its 2020–21 Season

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

Boston Lyric Opera Presents NORMA

For its first production of Vincenzo Bellini's 1831 masterwork, NORMA, in nearly 40 years, Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) brings back the international star it introduced to the U.S. just over two years ago. Elena Stikhina makes her debut in one of opera's most technically demanding roles a?' a powerful Druid priestess whose affair with the general of a warring Roman faction brings personal grief and despair. The Russian-born soprano made her American debut in BLO's 2017 production of Tosca. Her subsequent national and international acclaim includes a lauded 2018 Metropolitan Opera debut in Puccini's Il Trittico. Best known for its star-making aria a?oeCasta Diva,a?? BLO presents Bellini's dramatic bel canto opera for five performances from March 13-22 at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at BLO.org.

The San Diego International Film Festival Announces Their 2019 Film Award Winners

The San Diego International Film Festival, www.sdfilmfest.com celebrated their 18th year from October 15-20 at the 6 day annual Festival. Over 3,000 films from over 70 countries were submitted to the festival, with ultimately 107 films chosen to be screened. At the Filmmaker Awards night on Saturday, October 19th, 15 films received awards from the festival. Votes from attendees were also tallied to establish Audience Choice Awards.

The San Francisco Opera announced the recent passing of Rolando Panerai, a baritone best known for his vast Italian repertory and his sensational recordings alongside such legends as Maria Callas.

Renee Zellweger, Al Pacino, Antonio Banderas, & Laura Dern To Be Honored At HOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS

 The Hollywood Film Awards announced today that highly-acclaimed artists Antonio Banderas, Renée Zellweger, Al Pacino and Laura Dern will be honored at the 23rd Annual “Hollywood Film Awards.”  Banderas will receive the “Hollywood Actor Award” for his poignant turn in Pedro Almodóvar's 21st film, “Pain and Glory” and Zellweger will receive the “Hollywood Actress Award” for her powerful portrayal of the iconic Judy Garland in Rupert Goold's “Judy.”  Pacino will receive the “Hollywood Supporting Actor Award” for his brilliant depiction of the infamous Jimmy Hoffa in Martin Scorsese's mob masterpiece “The Irishman,” and Dern will receive the “Hollywood Supporting Actress Award” for her commanding performance as a hard-hitting divorce attorney in Noah Baumbach's “Marriage Story.”  Actor and comedian Rob Riggle will host the ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.
