TDF, the not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing the power of the performing arts to everyone, which is celebrating 50 years of service to audiences and the performing arts community in 2018, has announced it will be honoring Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning playwright TONY KUSHNER at its 50th Anniversary Gala on Monday, June 18 at Manhattan's historic Gotham Hall (1356 Broadway @ 36th Street, NYC). Mr. Kushner's masterwork, Angels in America, is currently receiving its first Broadway revival with the National Theatre production at the Neil Simon Theatre.
The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum has announced the cast for the New Jersey premiere of the musical comedy A Dog Story. A hit in its Off-Broadway run in late 2016, the play will be directed by Bickford Theatre Producing Artistic Director Eric Hafen. A Dog Story will be performed from April 12 - 22, 2018. The book of the show was written by Eric H. Weinberger with music and lyrics by Gayla D. Morgan.
Deborah Grace Winer brings three new jewel box revues celebrating the Classic American Songbook to Feinstein's/54 Below this spring. The series kicks off on March 27th with 'You Took Advantage of Me: Rodgers and Hart on Love' starring Grammy-winner Debby Boone, OBIE-winner Darius De Haas and Tony-nominee Christiane Noll, backed up by a swinging all-star band headed by Musical Director John Oddo.

In the last week, I have been able to check off two of my theatre bucket list items. One was to see a professional production of CHESS, which I was able to see at the Kennedy Center in its limited run last week. The second, I checked off Saturday night at the Human Race Theatre Company at its fundraising event ONE NIGHT WITH REBECCA LUKER, when I was actually able to hear Rebecca Luker sing in person.
Ed Dixon, 2017 Drama Desk winner for Best Solo Performance (Georgie), will star, along with Tony-nominated Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins, Fun Home), in two invite-only industry presentations of the new musical, Piece of Mind, by Geoffrey Goldberg (book and lyrics) and Steve Sweeting (music). The readings will be directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell), music directed by Eric Fotre Leach, and produced by Seaglass Theatrical.
