Ed Dixon To Star With Rebecca Luker In New Musical PIECE OF MIND Readings

Ed Dixon, 2017 Drama Desk winner for Best Solo Performance (Georgie), will star, along with Tony-nominated Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins, Fun Home), in two invite-only industry presentations of the new musical, Piece of Mind, by Geoffrey Goldberg (book and lyrics) and Steve Sweeting (music). The readings will be directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell), music directed by Eric Fotre Leach, and produced by Seaglass Theatrical.

Mr. Dixon will play the role of Robert and Ms. Luker will play the role of his daughter Patricia. Other members of the reading cast are Lora Lee Gayer (Holiday Inn) as Robert's late wife Laura, Benjamin Eakeley (Sweeney Todd) as Robert's younger self Bobby, Josh Breckenridge (Come From Away) as Charles, Michael Lorz (Swiss Family Robinson) as Andy, and introducing Ciela Elliott (Occupied Territories) as Young Patricia. The readings are stage managed by Suzanne Apicella.

Piece of Mind is an intriguing glimpse inside the failing mind of Robert, an 80-year-old former USO dancer, as he struggles with memories from a past that he is partly trying to remember, and partly trying to forget. Daughter Patricia and grandson Andy, with whom he lives, watch as Robert becomes increasingly confused, and frustratedly try to support him while still living a semblance of their normal lives. Ultimately, Robert must fight past his own jumbled perceptions to remember what is truly important, and to accept the parts of himself he doesn't want to look at - both as he was, and as he is.

The one-act musical will be presented twice, on Monday, March 5 at 6PM, and on Tuesday, March 6 at 2PM. Both performances will be at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street). For more information about the show, please email SeaglassTheatrical@gmail.com or visit PieceOfMindMusical.com.
