Ms. McBroom is perhaps best known for her song, “The Rose,” which was famously recorded by Bette Midler for the film of the same name.  But until this concert, McBroom and Midler hadn’t met, even though the extraordinary composition helped change both careers.

This year marks the 10th year anniversary since the passing of the late Whitney Houston. Her memorable music is still played all over the world. For one night only, The Australian Whitney Houston show will be at The Palms  at Crown Melbourne “Celebrating Whitney” with a spectacular show.  This is a show that brings to life the greatest hit songs of Whitney Houston that we  all know and love. Featuring a powerful 11-piece band with dancers, backing  vocals.  

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present Nashville vocalist Wendy Moten – best known for her 2021 run on NBC’s “The Voice” – in a special concert on Monday, May 16 at 7:00 PM. Her show will include songwriter Richard Whiting hits including “He’s Funny That Way,” “My Ideal,” “Miss Brown,” and “Too Marvelous For Words.”

These legendary acts eventually made way for performers such as Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and Faith Hill and present-day hitmakers Maren Morris, Yola, and Brandi Carlile. The exhibit celebrates a dynamic group of female songwriters and performers who come from diverse backgrounds and draw from a wide array of musical influences.
