BroadwayWorld has just learned that Second Stage Theater has postponed the opening night of LETTERS OF SURESH to Tuesday, October 12. The play was previously scheduled to open on October 4.

The National Arts Club has announced Brooklyn-based playwright Matthew Freeman as recipient of the 2021 Kesselring Prize.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will resume in-person performances when it launches its previously announced 51st season, featuring eight plays and musicals presented October 2021 through August 2022, kicking off with the new indie folk-rock musical Lizard Boy.

In collaboration with the Reach Performing Arts Center (RPAC) and in partnership with Island Heritage Trust, ANNA + MARVIN will stage an outdoor production of Do Not Move Stones at Stonington's historic granite quarry with performances on August 27, 28, and 29.

Second Stage Theater has announced full casting for the off-Broadway production of Rajiv Joseph’s LETTERS OF SURESH. The production will feature Ali Ahn, Ramiz Monsef, Kellie Overbey and Thom Sesma. 

Cherry Lane Theatre, the oldest continuously running Off-Broadway theatre in New York City, has a new owner, it has been announced by Angelina Fiordellisi, the theatre’s Executive Director since having acquired the building in 1996.  Cherry Lane is located at 38 Commerce Street in Greenwich Village.

Red Bull Theater today announced the selections for The 2021 Short New Play Festival, their eleventh annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes, featuring a World Premiere from José Rivera, alongside six brand new plays that have been selected from hundreds of open submissions from playwrights across the country.

Second Stage Theater has announced dates for four of its upcoming productions, including the Broadway stagings of Lynn Nottage’s Clyde’s and Richard Greenberg’s Take Me Out. The Broadway plays will be staged at the Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street) and the Off-Broadway productions will be presented at the Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street).

Theatre Communications Group has announced the recipients of the first round of the 2021 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced initial programming details for The Loft, its first-ever dedicated education space that encompasses the entire fourth floor of Steppenwolf's trailblazing new Arts and Education Center, designed by world-renowned architect Gordon Gill of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

The series is written by Robert Siegel and executive produced by Siegel, Nanjiani, Dylan Sellers and Emily V. Gordon as well as Rajiv Joseph and Mehar Sethi who will also write on the series.
