Botanicum Seedlings, Theatricum Botanicum's new play development program, is pleased to announce the recipient of the 8th annual "Izzy" award for new plays. The winning play, The Orange Garden by Joanna Garner, was presented during last year's Summer Playreadings. The Izzy is named for Theatricum's first dramaturg, Israel Baran, who passed away in 2007. To honor Israel's keen mind, sharp tongue, and ear for language (despite the fact that he was frustratingly deaf), the Izzy was established to recognize the Seedlings play that "speaks to us the loudest." Jewish Women's Theatre Names Millennial Fellows

Twelve talented millennial actors, writers, producers, and directors have been selected from a pool of nearly 50 applicants to take part in the Jewish Women's Theatre's (JWT) NEXT @ The Braid Arts Council, a new initiative made possible by a $150,000 Cutting Edge Grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation), with $15,000 in additional funding recently awarded by the Erwin Rautenberg Foundation, which consults with The Foundation on its grantmaking. The Antaeus production highlights the play's universal and timeless themes by staging the play as presentation theater with the actors speaking directly to the audience, rarely to the person onstage to whom they are speaking.
