Herb Alpert to Release New Album 'Over The Rainbow'

On September 20, 2019, legendary and Grammy winning musician, producer, creator and artist Herb Alpert will release his newest album Over The Rainbow, a 12 song collection that includes one original track and a cadre of classic and well known interpreted tunes performed in a way that only Alpert can deliver.

IFC, Mad Decent Partner to Release Songs from SHERMAN'S SHOWCASE

IFC announced today that the network has partnered with Mad Decent to drop the official soundtrack for its upcoming variety sketch series Sherman's Showcase, premiering Wednesday, July 31st at 10pm ET/PT. Sherman's Showcase (Original Soundtrack), featuring full-length versions of the songs from the series, is set for digital release on August 9 via Mad Decent, the  Los Angeles-based record label founded by Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo. The soundtrack will also be available on vinyl later this summer.

InterSchool Orchestras of New York Presents Its Gala Celebration: A TRIBUTE TO HOWARD JOHNSON Featuring Taj Mahal, Gravity, The Levon Helm Horns, the Beartones, and Students of InterSchool Orchestras of New York InterSchool Orchestras of New York (ISO) is proud to announce its 2019-2020 gala celebration, A Tribute to Howard Johnson, at Kaufman Music Center's Merkin Hall, September 18, 2019 at 7:30 pm. The special event will honor the musical legend, who, in his five-decade career, has played alongside luminaries in multiple genres and pioneered the voice of the tuba in jazz. The event will also feature the talents of two-time Grammy-winning musician Taj Mahal and students of ISO. All proceeds from the event will support financial aid and scholarships for ISO students.

Arthur Moon - the Brooklyn avant-pop group fronted by Lora-Faye Åshuvud along with collaborators Cale Hawkins (Quincy Jones, Bilal, Wyclef Jean) and Martin D. Fowler (a composer for This American Life) - today released a vinyl exclusive of their self-titled debut album via Vinyl Me, Please. In celebration of the album - out everywhere on August 2 - they've shared a stunning video for powerful single 'Reverse Conversion Therapy,'premiered on Billboard. Lora-Faye also recently received a prestigious New York Foundation for the Arts grant as part of their Artist Fellowship Program and the band will kick off a tour with Oh Land this fall, after an exuberant hometown Brooklyn show with Palehound this past week.

Created, executive produced, written and starring Bashir Salahuddin (GLOW, Snatched, South Side) and Diallo Riddle (Marlon, Rise, South Side), each episode of Sherman's Showcase is hosted bySherman McDaniels (Salahuddin) as he takes viewers through time via music and comedy drawn from the 40-year library of a legendary (but fictional) musical variety show, drawing inspiration from Solid Gold, Soul Train and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. Whether it's a questionably-attired funk super group in the 1970s, an up-and-coming MC in the 1980s or an R&B diva from the 1990s, Sherman's Showcasehas it all: music, comedy, gameshow segments, political roundtables, commercial parodies, breakout hits destined to climb the charts, a dancing robot and a legendary host who's been there from the beginning.

Imogen Heap Receives Honorary Doctorate in Valencia, Spain

Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented an honorary Doctor of Music degree yesterday to acclaimed recording artist Imogen Heap during the commencement ceremony for the master's degree programs at Berklee's campus in Valencia, Spain. In advance of the ceremony, graduate students prepared and performed a medley of her  music in her honor at the commencement concert, held at l'Hemisfèric on Saturday.

French Institute Alliance Francaise Presents SUMMER OF MICHEL LEGRAND

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF) honors the great French composer Michel Legrand, who died in January this year, with a special Cin Salon series devoted to his life and work. Curated by one of his longtime collaborators and greatest interpreters, singer and actress Melissa Errico, Summer of Michel Legrand brings together seven of his films from his best known triumphs such as The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Young Girls of Rochefort to lesser known gems such as the enchanting fairy-tale musical Donkey Skin. Screenings take place on Tuesdays in July at 4pm and 7:30pm in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.
