Disney Junior has ordered a second season of 'Mira, Royal Detective' ahead of its spring 2020 debut. The news was announced last night by Joe D'Ambrosia, senior vice president, Original Programming and general manager, Disney Junior, during a special advance screening of the series in Burbank, California. Set in the magical Indian-inspired land of Jalpur, the series follows the brave and resourceful Mira, a commoner who is appointed to the role of royal detective by the queen and travels throughout her kingdom to help royals and commoners alike.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts has announced casting of 46 young dancers in American Ballet Theatre's production of The Nutcracker performed December 13 through 22 in Segerstrom Hall. Forty-two students from the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School at Segerstrom Center, plus four additional talented young dancers from Orange County, will perform alongside the world renowned ABT company, in this classic holiday show. Disney Channel has picked up a second season of the popular live-action daughter/father comedy 'Sydney to the Max,' starring 13-year-old actress/musical artist Ruth Righi in the title role of Sydney. Geared for kids ages 6-14 and families, the series is set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s and follows outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds, who lives with her single dad Max (Ian Reed Kesler, 'Suits'), in the house he grew up in, along with her progressive grandmother Judy (Caroline Rhea, 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch,' Disney's 'Phineas and Ferb'). As Sydney's preteen pursuits begin to expand, Max's flashbacks of his childhood help him gain a better perspective of his daughter's experiences. Created and executive produced by Mark Reisman ('Frasier,' 'Wings,' 'The Exes'), production on season two will commence later this summer.
