Legendary jazz harpist-pianist-singer Corky Hale, who has performed with some of the greatest stars in music history, as well as been a pioneering social activist, is publishing a new biography this month, 'Corky Hale Uncorked,' written by Jerry Leichtling and Arlene Sarner.

The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) in New York was abuzz last Thursday when critical darling Ed Lin celebrated the release of his latest mystery, 99 Ways to Die (Soho Crime), featuring an evening of Taiwanese street snacks, a book signing, music and a raffle.

In a 19th century warehouse on the banks of the Hudson River, dance artists and enthusiasts came together on October 8, 2018, for this year's Hudson Valley Dance Festival in Catskill, NY. Two performances at Historic Catskill Point raised a record $158,030 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

A year ago, almost to the day, Alan Cumming made his debut with the Celebrity Series of Boston, performing his touring show SINGS SAPPY SONGS at Sanders Theatre. This time around, Cumming and his quartet of crack musicians took the stage Sunday night at the considerably larger Symphony Hall, wowing the sold out house with his cabaret program LEGAL IMMIGRANT. Cumming tells stories at least as much as he sings, but his eclectic musical selections are made all the more compelling with Musical Director Lance Horne on piano, virtuoso cellist Eleanor Norton, young newcomer Riley Mulherkar on trumpet, and Chris Jago alternating between drums and guitar.

Riverside Theatre presents one of Broadway's longest-running jukebox musicals, Smokey Joe's Cafe. Sponsored by Linda & Mel Teetz and Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers Group, Smokey Joe's Cafe performs on the Stark Stage from October 23 - November 11, 2018.

Award-winning jazz vocalists Marcus Goldhaber and Gabrielle Stravelli will toss back-and-forth the songs of Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Cole Porter and more in Mostly Marcus: Swingin' Down the Lane at the MAC on November 3rd at 8pm.

THE GREEN ROOM 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - will present Hilary Kole in "Something Old, Something New" on Today, September 27 at 8:30 PM.  An authentic talent not to be missed, Kole is backed by a brilliant jazz quartet featuring pianist Adam Birnbaum, bassist Paul Gill, drummer Aaron Kimmel, and guitarist John Hart. She unlocks new meaning in old standards and little heard art songs, as well as her infectious and emotionally-compelling new pop single "Moon Song," which she co-wrote with celebrated producer, singer and songwriter Devin Bing.

Adelaide singer and cabaret artist Mel McCaig will premiere her first solo show, Gifts from the King, on 16 and 17 November at Holden Street Theatres as part of the 2018 Feast Festival.
