Alison Fraser, Jess Hendy, Grammy Winner Tim Young, Marissa Rosen And More Celebrate Peggy Lee At Green Room 42

Peggy Lee is being celebrated December 15 at 7:00PM at Green Room 42 as the Season Finale of Blake Allen's "An Evening With..." Series. Called "an important vehicle for musical preservation" (BroadwayWorld), the series is committed to honoring and educating audiences about the music of America from the early-mid part of the 20th century by setting these celebrated works with notable contemporary voices and new arrangements.

Produced by Danny Marin (Jay Armstrong Johnson's I Put A Spell On You) and presented by The Green Room 42, "An Evening With..." Series: Peggy Lee, the fifth installment of this important series, on Friday December 15 at 7:00 p.m. inside the Times Square Yotel. Curated by Blake Allen (Folk Wandering, the shards of an honor code junkie), known for his innovative bridging of contemporary music and theater through composition, he also orchestrated the evening and provides a deeper inside to the life of Peggy Lee with video clips, facts, and a slide show.

The evening will feature the songs we all know from the 40s-70s, spanning Peggy Lee's legendary Grammy winning career, with beloved songs from "Fever" and "Mañana" to "Bella Note," "Sweet Happy Life," "Why Don't You Do Right," "Johnny's Guitar, "Christmas Carousel," to Broadway songs she made into pop standards, and unexpected mashups with a nostalgic flair.

The cast will include the vocal stylings of Broadway legend, and Two-time Tony-Nominee Alison Fraser (The Secret Garden, Falsettos), the beltress Jess Hendy (Cats), Grammy Winner Tim Young (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal), Marissa Rosen (Rrrred), Jane Bruce (Jagged Little Pill), Emily Trumble (Something Rotten), Victoria Cook (Into the Woods), Sarah Kleist (Cleopatra, Heathers), Chris Blem (Beauty and the Beast), and more.

Backed by an eleven-piece band including musicians from Spongebob, Cabaret, Next to Normal, Misery, and more, the evening will also welcome members of the "An Evening With..." Company: Kerry Conte (Mary Poppins, Hey, Look Me Over!, White Christmas), James Crichton (Botticelli in the Fire, Peter and the Starcatcher; Jasper in Deadland), Emily Croft (Rock of Ages); Josh Daniel (Book of Mormon; Boston|Nebraska), Christine de Frece (It Shoulda Been You, NYFA and Circle in the Square Faculty), Christine DiGiallonardo (Candide, A Prairie Home Companion, Encores!), Spencer Glass (Wringer), Kristina Nicole Miller (Welcome), Jack Scott (Newsies) and Jordan Tyson (Sweetie; Folk Wandering).

The band, led by Blake Allen on the piano, will include percussionists Damien Bassman and Mark Katsaounis, Magda Kress on bass, Jared Newlen on winds, Camille Enderlin and Sienna Peck on violin, Harper Randolph on viola, Lydia Paulos, with Dustin Beardsley and Paul Tafoya on trumpet. 

 

Blake Allen will continue to present the works of the 20th century to preserve their impact on the music and artists of today into 2019 with Season 2 highlighting Dionne Warwick (Feb 21 at 7), Doris Day (April 25 at 7, feat Diana DeGarmo and Michelle Dowdy), Shirley Bassey, Eartha Kitt, and Dr. Seuss.

The Green Room 42 Presents: An Evening With... Peggy Lee will take place Saturday, Dec 15 at 7:00p.m.

VENUE INFORMATION

The Green Room 42 is located in YOTEL, 570 10th Avenue, in the heart of Time Square. On the 4th floor, the venue is accessible by the A, C, and E trains at Eighth Avenue, the 1, 2, 3, 7, N, R, Q, or S trains to 42nd Street/Times Square, or the B, D, M and F to 42nd Street/Bryant Park at Sixth Avenue.
