Returning to Stratford East after two decades, the vibrant ska musical The Big Life mixes the plot of Love's Labour's Lost with the arrival of the Windrush generation to London. Stratford East has announced the cast and creative team for its revival of hit Windrush Ska musical The Big Life, with book by Paul Sirett and Tameka Empson, lyrics by Paul Sirett, and music by Paul Joseph.

STRATFORD EAST has announced a lineup of new shows and events for 2024, including Lanre Malaolu's 'Now, I See,' a powerful exploration of the Black male experience in contemporary Britain. Don't miss this thought-provoking production.

At its core, Trio’s biggest wound is a self-inflicted one. It undercuts its own capacity for dramatic impact due to its structure, with each character taking turns to discuss the events of their tumultuous shared history in the past tense, emotionally removed from each historic detail and inherently dispassionate.

The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich has announced the full cast and creative team for the world premiere of the new intimate musical Trio, which runs at the theatre from 7-15 October 2022. This world premiere production will also have livestreamed performances on 14 & 15 October 2022.

Following its streaming of Amy Ng's Under the Umbrella from 22-29 May, the Belgrade Theatre has announced that two further productions will be made available to watch online for free this summer. 

The six-strong cast includes theatrical stalwart Michael Bertenshaw (SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE, HAYMARKET WEST END, HAMPSTEAD THEATRE, CURVE, THE MINITURIST, THE CROWN, THE DA VINCI CODE), Yinka Williams (ROYAL OPERA HOUSE, APOLLO VICTORIA THEATRE, CHUTNEY! UK AND WORLD TOUR, LONDON ROAD), Tamara McKoy-Patterson (NATIONAL THEATRE, ROYAL OPERA HOUSE, WEST YORKSHIRE PLAYHOUSE), Michael Gonsalves, new graduate Kitty Hollingsworth and Theatre Peckham alumni Luis Gustavo Silva Navarro (ROBIN HOOD AND THE ARROW OF DESTINY).

I wanted to come to Live Theatre because they do things differently. Paul Sirett's play is a great example. Part socio-political commentary, part Gothic thriller, part musical celebration, all the seemingly conflicting elements coalesce and create a whole.

Inspired by Shubert's Wintereisse (A Winter's Journey), December Songs portrays a brokenhearted young woman, wandering the snowy paths of Central Park. In this contemporary tale of her journey, she finds the strength to recover and begin her life anew. Written by prolific Broadway Composer Maury Yeston (Nine, Titanic, Phantom), December Songs will be performed by Lisa-Marie Parker (Les Miserables, Cats, Blood Brothers).

Pioneering disabled-led theatre company Graeae has been a proud standard-bearer for protest and disability rights for many years. In conjunction with the final tour of their smash hit musical Reasons to be Cheerful, set in 1979 Thatcher's Britain, Blockheads Chaz Jankel, Derek Hussey and cast member John Kelly have written a protest song for 2017, 'If It Can't Be Right Then It Must Be Wrong'.

The New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich is currently in rehearsals for their brand new actor-musician production OXY AND THE MORONS, which runs from Thursday 12 to Saturday 21 October, directed by Artistic Director Peter Rowe. Check out photos below!
