THE DJANGO will bring another month of stellar jazz by some of the field’s heroes alongside young, emerging artists.

Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club continues its return to in-person concerts with a full slate of performances throughout December, lighting up the winter season with the swing that has made the club a year-round favorite for local jazz aficionados, out-of-town visitors, and live music lovers.

The concert is conducted by Tito Muñoz in his Philharmonic debut, and features pianist Aaron Diehl as soloist in selections from Mary Lou Williams’s Zodiac Suite (in which he is joined by bassist Paul Sikivie and drummer Aaron Kimmel) and William Grant Still’s Out of the Silence, from Seven Traceries.

Pianist Aaron Diehl is one of the most sought-after jazz virtuosos, consistently playing with what the New York Times describes as 'melodic precision, harmonic erudition, and elegant restraint.' Diehl's meticulously thought-out performances, collaborations, and compositions are a leading force in today's generation of jazz contemporaries, spearheading a distinct union of traditional and fresh artistry.

The Soraya's Great Hall will be transformed into the coolest of the cool intimate New York nightspot as "Jazz Club" arrives at The Younes and Soraya Center for the Performing Arts this spring.  Grammy Award-winning vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant kicks off "Jazz Club" with her unmatched range that soars to the rafters and dives to earthy depths. She continues the legacies of the greats-Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday-and tackles racial stereotypes by performing forgotten numbers from the vaudeville and minstrel eras stretching back more than a century. McLorin Salvant performs two nights, April 18 & 19 at The Soraya's Jazz Club located on the campus of CalState University, Northridge.

Known for his interpretations of classic American songs, pianist Bill Charlap and his trio is joined by rising-star vocalist C cile McLorin Salvant for an evening of Bernstein favorites.

The Love Wins! concert will feature Matt Wilson's Christmas Tree-O with DownBeat and JazzTimes poll winning drummer Matt Wilson, Paul Sikivie on bass and Jeff Lederer on saxophone, as well as an all-star group featuring Grammy-nominated vocalist Ren Marie, Grammy Award winner Bill Charlap on piano, Grammy-nominated bassist Rufus Reid and Grammy-nominated saxophonist Jimmy Greene , who is WCSU co-coordinator of Jazz Studies and associate professor of Music. The event is hosted by the WCSU Department of Music.
