Queer the Ballet presents the world premiere of Dream of a Common Language. Dream of a Common Language is a new evening-length ballet inspired by lesbian writer and activist Adrienne Rich's 1978 poetry collection by the same name.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC), led by Artistic Director Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, introduces six new artists joining their main company, each highly accomplished in contemporary dance. The Friday November 18 performance will start at 8:30 PM, and the Saturday November 19 evening will begin at the usual 8 PM, in City Center Studio 5, 130 West 56 Street.
Offered in conjunction with Dance St. Louis' Seventh Annual Emerson Spring to Dance Festival 2014, high intermediate and advanced-level dancers ages 14 and up are invited to participate in a master class with Elisa Monte Dance. The class will include modern technique and choreography from the company's repertoire. Founded in 1981, Elisa Monte Dance celebrates the work of Elisa Monte, a former principal dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company, Lar Lubovitch and Pilobolus, is widely recognized for its highly athletic and sensual style exploring a multitude of topics and themes.
