Grand Rapids Ballet Presents THE NUTCRACKER

By:

The classic family holiday tradition from Grand Rapids Ballet, "The Nutcracker," returns to DeVos Performance Hall for two weekends in December with four evening shows and four matinees:

  • Friday, December 9th at 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
  • Sunday, December 11th at 2:00 pm
  • Friday, December 16th at 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, December 17th at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
  • Sunday, December 18th at 2:00 pm

The production was completely redesigned in 2014 by Chris Van Allsburg (author of "The Polar Express" and a Grand Rapids native) and Eugene Lee (Tony Awards®-winning set designer of "Candide," "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," and "Wicked," and Emmy® award-winning production designer for "SaturdayNight Live") and choreographed by Val Caniparoli, one of America's most sought after award-winning choreographers. Live orchestra music is provided by Grand Rapids Symphony.

"'The Nutcracker' is a magical story that inspires families throughout West Michigan during this special time of the year," said Patricia Barker, artistic director of Grand Rapids Ballet. "I'm immensely proud of our work with the creative team of Chris, Eugene, and Val on this century-old story that is so cherished by families around the world. It just wouldn't be the holidays without it!"

While supplies last, tickets for the run start as low as $20 and are available by calling616.454.4771 or visiting grballet.com.
