October will be filled with hundreds of events enabling artists from all fields to engage audiences, exposing patrons of every age to creative forums they may never have explored before. Focal Point Theatre Company (FPTC) begins its first season with a show dubbed The Against Type Project.

Taproot Theatre brings the work of one of Britain's wittiest playwrights to the stage this fall with Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband. Dandies and diamonds swirl in and out of this comedic classic. Sir Robert appears to be the ideal husband, until a choice from early in his career comes back to haunt him. Can he be restored to his adoring wife or will the truth be everyone's undoing? This smart satire sparkles with wit and romance. Written by Oscar Wilde and directed by Karen Lund, An Ideal Husband opens on September 23 and runs through October 22, with previews on September 21 and 22.

Academy, Tony and four-time Emmy Award nominee Bob Balaban; acclaimed 'White Collar' television star Matt Bomer; Emmy Award-winning journalist Campbell Brown; celebrated playwright and gay rights activist Larry Kramer; two-time Academy Award-nominated, multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning, two-time Tony Award-winning actor John Lithgow; Tony Award nominee and Broadway Impact Co-Founder Rory O'Malley; and Emmy Award winner and three-time Golden Globe Award nominee Bradley Whitford will appear in the world premiere of '8' on Broadway, joining the previously announced Anthony Edwards, Morgan Freeman, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Lahti, Rob Reiner, Yeardley Smith and Marisa Tomei. The production is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which eliminated the right to marry for gay and lesbian couples in California.

According to the Guardian, Oscar Wilde's grandson Merlin Holland is not happy with north London's King's Head Theatre for claiming that they are producing 'the world premiere of the only unproduced Oscar Wilde play'.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF begins its 2011-2012 Signature Series with Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, a rousing escapade of romance, mistaken identities and comic twists, playing at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center from September 14 - October 9, 2011.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, called 'a riotously funny and campy variety show' by Next Magazine, and 'a rollicking, wry affair complete with funny political commentary on current events' by Gay City News, will present their newest edition on Thursday, September 22 at 9:30 PM.

On Monday, October 3rd, aMios will present Shotz vs. New York at the Under St Marks Theater, located at 94 St. Marks Place.

Crown Center announces their schedule of events for September 2011- August 2012

The Vortex Theatre will present LOOT, by Joe Orton, from September 9 through October 2, 2011 Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Loot will be directed by Aaron Worley.
