October at Taproot Theatre Brings Arts Crush Festival

The Puget Sound art community is abuzz with excitement as they usher in the annual, month-long festival, Arts Crush. October will be filled with hundreds of events enabling artists from all fields to engage audiences, exposing patrons of every age to creative forums they may never have explored before. Taproot Theatre is teaming with Arts Crush to present several free events and special deals throughout the festival, offering everything from performances and classes for kids to free and date night deals for adults.

Taproot Theatre concludes 35th Anniversary Season with AN IDEAL HUSBAND, Opens 9/23

Taproot Theatre brings the work of one of Britain's wittiest playwrights to the stage this fall with Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband. Dandies and diamonds swirl in and out of this comedic classic. Sir Robert appears to be the ideal husband, until a choice from early in his career comes back to haunt him. Can he be restored to his adoring wife or will the truth be everyone's undoing? This smart satire sparkles with wit and romance. Written by Oscar Wilde and directed by Karen Lund, An Ideal Husband opens on September 23 and runs through October 22, with previews on September 21 and 22.

Academy, Tony and four-time Emmy Award nominee Bob Balaban; acclaimed 'White Collar' television star Matt Bomer; Emmy Award-winning journalist Campbell Brown; celebrated playwright and gay rights activist Larry Kramer; two-time Academy Award-nominated, multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning, two-time Tony Award-winning actor John Lithgow; Tony Award nominee and Broadway Impact Co-Founder Rory O'Malley; and Emmy Award winner and three-time Golden Globe Award nominee Bradley Whitford will appear in the world premiere of '8' on Broadway, joining the previously announced Anthony Edwards, Morgan Freeman, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Lahti, Rob Reiner, Yeardley Smith and Marisa Tomei. The production is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which eliminated the right to marry for gay and lesbian couples in California.
