“The hills are alive…” as The Salem Central School Drama Club proudly presents The Sound of Music December 3-5th as the school's annual musical. The iconic story, with music Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, features over 30 students onstage and backstage, marking the first school musical since 2019. Tickets must be reserved in advance and are available online now.

Live theatre is officially back and Concord Theatricals is celebrating! 'There's No Business Like Show Business' is a digital celebration that launched just last month, marking the return of live theater and all of the incredible people who help to make it happen. This is the first partnership with Wildwood Park for the Arts, and I hope there will be many more, because this show is so good. Seriously, I will try to verbalize how great everyone is, but honestly, you need to go see it for yourself.

The cast of the national tour of Oklahoma! has been announced! The cast will feature Sasha Hutchings as Laurey Williams, Sean Grandillo as Curly McLain, Christopher Bannow as Jud Fry, Sis as Ado Annie Carnes, Hennessy Winkler as Will Parker, Benj Mirman as Ali Hakim, Barbara Walsh as Aunt Eller and more.

A gentle wish for peace and an acknowledgment of the beauty all around us. Those were the last words to flow out of the pen of Oscar Hammerstein II. Born into a legendary theatrical family, his career spanned over 40 years on Broadway and he worked with a myriad of partners, notably Sigmund Romberg and Jerome Kern. But it is his groundbreaking partnership with Richard Rodgers that produced the work he will forever be remembered for. The partnership won him 8 Tony awards and two Oscars for best song. A playwright and lyricist, he created 5 works that are still staples of regional and community theatres around the world and 4 lesser performed works that pushed boundaries and are the basis of the musical play that still is a model for modern theatre writers. In terms of theatrical giants, they don't come much bigger than Rodgers & Hammerstein.

Today, Goodspeed Musicals announced the talented team of Broadway and Off-Broadway artists who will create the magnificent A Grand Night for Singing: A Celebration of Rodgers & Hammerstein for the iconic Opera House stage.

Carousel, the second musical by the team of Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow (Matthew Coules), whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan (Lauren Krigel) comes at the price of both their jobs.

The season features nine productions exploring stories of contemporary culture, heroic activists, everyday people in extraordinary times, and lots of music. In its 50th season, ASF continues its mission of building community with captivating stories for that speak to and represent all people in the South.
