DRIVING MISS DAISY, ANYONE CAN WHISTLE and More Announced in Third Avenue Playhouse 2020 Season

The Third Avenue Playhouse, located in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay, announces its lineup of six plays for the upcoming 2020 season. The plays include an early career work from playwright David Mamet, a 1964 musical by the legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim, a multi-award winning classic about the unlikely friendship between an elderly lady and her driver, the story of an unconventional advice columnist, and a farcical take on the making of Gone With The Wind.

Apollo Theater Has Launched a Major Commissioning Initiative Dedicated to the Creation of a Diverse Performing Arts Canon

The Apollo Theater announced today its first multi-work commissioning initiative dedicated to the creation of a diverse, 21st century American performing arts canon, Apollo New Works. Made possible with the support of a $2 million grant from the Ford Foundation for the creation of new work by artists of color, the initiative is also funded by a $1 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the Apollo's Master Artist in Residency, a central component of the program.

2020 FREDDY Awards Scholarship Opportunities Announced

Since its inception in 2003, over $1.5 million has been awarded to participating FREDDY high school students. This year, over $300,000 in scholarships, internships and community awards is available in conjunction with the 2020 FREDDY© Awards program, presented by the State Theatre Center for the Arts. THE DOO WOP PROJECT is Coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse

Featuring stars of Broadway hits Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical and Chazz Palminteri's A Bronx Tale, The Doo Wop Project traces the evolution of Doo Wop, from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. DWP takes the audience on a journey from the songs of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to 'DooWopified' versions of modern musicians like Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Maroon 5. The Doo Wop Project comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse Wednesday, March 25 at 7:30pm, part of Northern Trust Broadway & Cabaret Series with support from Teed & Brown, and Pepsi Rock Series powered by Xfinity.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Speak at the 2020 Women in the World Summit

Today, Tina Brown Live Media and Women in the World announced the initial participants for the 11th annual Women in the World Summit to be held at Lincoln Center in New York City. This year's Summit will take place from Thursday, April 2 to Friday, April 3 and will feature a bold line-up - including actress, icon and best-selling author  Demi Moore, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge, female Kurdish warrior Commander Nesrin Abdullah, Nobel laureate Esther Duflo, Surviving R. Kelly documentarian dream hampton, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, Hong Kong activist Denise Ho, journalist and activist Gretchen Carlson, Endeavor CMO Bozoma St. John, and Corinne Vella, sister of heroic murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, with more compelling participants to be released.

The Ridgefield Playhouse to Screen THE COLOR PURPLE

Movie Series. In honor of Black History Month, this classic film returns to cinemas and includes exclusive insights from Turner Classic Movies.
