Previews: SPONGEBOB THE MUSICAL at Carrollwood Cultural Center

'We held auditions at the Center, and I was so nervous we wouldn't get anyone to come out. We had an amazing turnout! Between the open auditions and video submissions, we had 150 people try out. Casting just came to us. And this cast is solid and perfect for their roles,' said director Andi Garner.

Review: ACIS AND GALATEA, Opera Holland Park

Opera Holland Park’s staging of Handel’s beloved Acis and Galatea is a smashing success that finds just the right balance between musical finesse and tongue-in-cheek comedy.

Review: MICHAEL MALIAKEL Impresses with Flawless Vocals at Blue Strawberry

The quality of Maliakel’s voice is flawless with elegant tone and timbre. His phrasing is impeccable. His diction is magnificent. He possesses a resonant multi-octave range with rich and delicious vowels. Oh, those vowels! His elongated and euphonious Es in the titular song from “She Loves Me” reverberated throughout the room. Maliakel’s cabaret show is exactly what one wants in a musical theater performer’s solo show, carefully selected song choices that are familiar and not self-indulgent. His melodious singing and his relatable banter connected the insanely talented performer with his audience. The marvelous Maliakel has certainly proven that he is a vocal musician, a technician, an accomplished actor, a sensational singer, and an exceptional entertainer in any size venue. Hopefully, St. Louis will get to see him again soon on a local stage.

Review: THE HOT WING KING, National Theatre

When food takes centre stage, it is usually as a conduit for humanity. Somewhere in the pseudo religiosity of ritual and the flurry of flavours we summon stories of cultures, families, histories across time and geography.

Review: DUEL REALITY at The Old Globe

Love can make you feel like you are soaring above everything, like life is a circus, and if your families don’t get along, a tricky balancing act as they fight.  “Duel Reality” by The 7 Fingers highlights all of these to the stage in their new artistic and acrobatic show inspired by “Romeo and Juliet' to the Old Globe stage through August 4th

Student Blog: 18 Shows?! Finding Energy in a Long Run

Broadway performers do 8 shows a week and I always hear actors talking about finding a continuous appreciation for performing a show many times, but I never actually got it. Currently, I am performing in Oklahoma! and am conquering 18 performances over 4 weeks. It has tested my endurance, but I am thankful to have such a different experience.

Interview: Joyce Lao Is Refining #40SANDSINGLE at Don't Tell Mama Ahead of the Fringe

Every year, many performers from NYC head to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Part of the process of getting ready for the month-long festival involves producing 'preview' shows in New York and other places. I spoke to Joyce Lao, creator of #40sandSingle, who just wrapped a preview show at Pangea and is gearing up another this Sunday at DTM.
