Independent Shakespeare Co. presents MEASURE FOR MEASURE

This summer take a trip to a decadent Vienna as INDEPENDENT SHAKESPEARE CO. opens the season with the wild and wonderful MEASURE FOR MEASURE. The plot twists come fast and furious in this production that is equal parts screwball romantic comedy and deliciously dark social satire.  MEASURE FOR MEASURE, directed by Independent Shakespeare Co.'s Artistic Director, Melissa Chalsma, will begin previews at THE GRIFFITH PARK FREE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL on Saturday, June 24 at 7pm and will open on Saturday, July 1 at 7:00pm and perform through Sunday, July 22 at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park.  All ISC Summer Shakespeare productions are FREE to the public!  MEASURE FOR MEASURE is the first of two productions being presented at this year's GRIFFITH PARK FREE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL. THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA will play July 29 - September 3.

Casting for Announced for LONDON ASSURANCE

City Lit Theatre Artistic Director Terry McCabe has announced the cast for the company's season finale, the British comedy London Assurance. First produced in London in 1841 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and shortly thereafter in New York City, London Assurance is considered a transitional play between the 18th century comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith and the late 19th Century plays of Oscar Wilde. It has been one of Great Britain's most popular comedies of the standard classical repertoire and in recent decades has been performed by some of Britain's leading actors.

TACT's rare NY revival of Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops To Conquer kicks off the theatre's 2016 - '17 season. TACT Artistic Director Scott Alan Evans will direct the production featuring performances from Jeremy Beck* (Widowers' Houses), Cynthia Darlow* (Beyond Therapy), Mairin Lee (The Heiress), James Prendergast* (Happy Birthday),  Tony Roach*(Bright Star), John Rothman (Prelude to a Kiss), Justine Salata*(Lovers), and Richard Thieriot* (Clybourne Park). (*Indicates TACT company member).  She Stoops To Conquer will mark the seventh time that TACT has moved a play from its Salon Series to the Mainstage program. SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER Revival, THE GRAVEDIGGER'S LULLABY & More Set for TACT's 2016-17 Season

TACT has announced the 2016-17 season will kick off with a rare NY revival of Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops To Conquer, a fully mounted production seen in TACT's 2015-'16 Salon Series.  Performances at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) will begin Tuesday October 4th for a strictly limited engagement through November 5th.

The folly of most people is rather an object of mirth than uneasiness and mirth will be plentiful when Shakespeare Dallas presents She Stoops to Conquer. The classic by the comedic Irish playwright Oliver Goldsmith opens the 2016 season of Shakespeare in the Park. Performances begin today, June 15 and continue through June 18, then June 29-July 22 every Wednesday - Friday at the Samuell Grand Amphitheater, 1500 Tenison Parkway in Dallas.
