Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the July 31 opening of Neil Simon's comedy Laughter on the 23rd Floor at Saint Michael's Playhouse in Colchester, Vermont. Laughter on the 23rd Floor is directed by Catherine Doherty who has directed numerous SMP productions including You Can't Take It With You, See How They Run, The 39 Steps.

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) presents Martín Zimmerman's On the Exhale July 25-August 4. First preview is July 25 at 2:00pm, and the opening is July 25 at 8:00pm. Written in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting, the play takes a unique look at the issues surrounding guns and gun violence in America. The production stars CTC Associate Artistic Director and Berkshire native Tara Franklin.

On Tuesday, July 23 at 8pm, the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport will host a special benefit performance of Saturday Night Fever to benefit the Village of Northport and promote clean waterways in the Northport Harbor.

51Fest, a partnership between Women in the World and IFC Center, continued its inaugural festival last night with screenings and discussions about women's stories. Saturday got to a rowdy start with the exciting documentary Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins, where director Janice Engel led the crowd in a rousing chant to get them into the Ivins' spirit. The film, which tells the incredible life of powerhouse Texas journalist Molly Ivins, who famously told the stories plaguing America with humor, passion, and grit, was followed by a conversation with director Janice Engel and actor Kathleen Turner, moderated by New York Times reporter Rachel Dry.

Penguin Rep Theatre, under the leadership of founding artistic director Joe Brancato and executive director Andrew M. Horn, presents the world premiere of The Sabbath Girl, a new play by Cary Gitter, directed by Mr. Brancato, beginning Friday, August 2 in Stony Point, New York.

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, opens its 2019-20 season with the Beaumont 1987 version of the hilarious maritime musical, Anything Goes. Ben Clark is still a largely unknown composer, unless you've heard his unforgettable music. Composing on guitar, drawing influence from artists like Jeff Buckley, Dave Matthews, and Martin Sexton, Clark's writing style is a story-driven blend of folk, Americana, and rock.
