Now in its seventh season of supporting emerging female writers The Farm Theater has awarded their 2020/21 College Collaboration Project Commission to playwright Lia Romeo (The Forest, featured on The Kilroys' List; NYIT Award nominee for Connected at 59E59). Ms. Romeo will collaborate with Centre College in Danville, KY (fall 2020) and Wells College in Aurora, NY (spring 2020). This will be Centre College's fourth time participating in The Farm Theater's College Collaboration Project.
On Sunday afternoon, Long Beach Opera (LBO) presented the world premiere of its adaptation of Henry Purcell's semi-opera King Arthur at the Beverly O'Neill Theater. A semi-opera refers to a Restoration entertainment that combines a spoken play with musical episodes that involvolomot, Darryl Taylor, e singing and dancing. Purcell's best known semi-operas are King Arthur and The Fairy-Queen. LBO presented its version of the latter in 2017.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) has announced the ninth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. The Reading Series will feature new works by Benjamin Benne, Majkin Holmquist, Shayan Lotfi, Nick Mecikalski and Harrison David Rivers.

Jason O'Neill was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He became passionate about Irish dancing, Irish culture and music as a young boy and seeing RIVERDANCE changed his life. It became his goal to become a professional Irish dancer and perform in RIVERDANCE, which he has now done for 10 years. The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for its 2020 season, which opens June 15 with Kander and Ebb's internationally-acclaimed Chicago. Studio Theatre and Artistic Director David Muse have announced that Reginald L. Douglas will join the organization as its new Associate Artistic Director later this month. Douglas comes to Studio from City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, where he has served as Artistic Producer since 2015.
