Weston Theater Company has been approved for a $15,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support their 2022 Original Works Programs. 

The Music Academy has revealed its ambitious plans for the 75th Anniversary Summer Festival. This milestone year has been propelled by three sold-out concerts by the London Symphony Orchestra in March and three Competition Winners recitals in April.

BMI celebrated world-renowned superstars Gloria and Emilio Estefan at the 72nd Annual BMI/NAB Dinner held last night at the Encore Las Vegas.  The legendary songwriting couple was honored with the BMI Board of Directors Award for their incomparable body of work and groundbreaking influence in introducing Latin music to a global audience.

Vivid Stage, formerly Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present its annual Meet the Artist new play reading series on Wednesdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25. All readings will take place at the Oakes Center at 7:30 pm.

For the final production of the 2021-2022 professional season, Gulfshore Playhouse announces the world premiere of “Another Revolution” by Jacqueline Bircher. The performance runs from April 30 through May 15, with preview performances on April 28 and 29.

Sean Blake, Judy Fitzgerald and Jan Lucas will be the trio of Midwestern snowbirds unpacking family secrets in a May 14 developmental staged reading of Kenneth Jones' comedy-drama Two Henrys, part of Actors Theatre of Indiana's Lab Series of new play readings. Richard J. Roberts directs the play set at the dawn of marriage equality and the dusk of the worst days of the AIDS epidemic.

SEWING THE DREAM, a new musical with books and lyrics by Judith Estrine, Artistic Director of Prism Stage Company, comes to the stage for six performances on Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, NYC, starting April 26, 2022. The original music was written by David Kurkowski (FINDING MADAME CURIE) with direction by Zillah Glory Langsjoen, music direction by Ben Kiley, and choreography by Tatyana Kot.

The Shed and composer and artistic director Troy Anthony and his choir community, The Fire Ensemble, have formed a three-year creative partnership to foster community-building, intersectional artistic practice, and resource sharing.

The Boston College Arts Council will present its 2022 Alumni Arts Award for Distinguished Achievement to Jeff Augustin, Class of 2008, an acclaimed and award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose plays have been performed at high-profile festivals and venues across the country. He will be on campus as the special alumni guest during the University's 24th annual Arts Festival, April 28-30, 2022, and participate in festival programming.

Pittsburgh Public Theater has announced the winner of the organization’s 2021-2022 New Play Contest, Lisa Langford, for her play The Breakfast at the Bookstore. As the winning playwright, Ms. Langford will receive a $500 honorarium and a staged reading of her script will be featured in this season’s Public PlayTime series.

Chicago Writers’ Bloc announced that it will celebrate its 30th Anniversary with a benefit and staged readings of 10 new works presented as part of its 2022 New Plays Festival, running May 23 to June 14 at the Raven Theater in Edgewater.

Weinberger Award for Emerging Librettists, a juried cash and production grant given annually to support the early work and career of a deserving musical theatre librettist, commemorating the life and work of playwright/librettist Eric H. Weinberger.

 Los Angeles-based artist/vocalist/producer ayokay will release his new album, Digital Dreamscape, on May 13 via Astralwerks. On the visionary, 13-track album and the accompanying videos, ayokay tells the story of protagonist Alex and his deepening relationship with an outsider female character, Chelle, who has created a computer system that allows her to enter into another reality. Joining them in this world, known as “Digital Dreamscape,” are multitudes of people who leave behind relics of their experiences or decide to never return home.
