However, this world, our one singular world, has been in crisis for some time, from sociopolitical & institutionalized oppression to the growing climate emergency.
SheNYC Arts will partner with DonorUP to produce their annual concert, Noteworthy: A Night Celebrating Women Songwriters. All proceeds will benefit the SheNYC Summer Theater Festivals in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, as well as their free CreateHER program for high school girls.
To celebrate the work of MTF's People of Color Roundtable on Monday May 20th, Musical Theatre Factory will present a one night only evening of new musical theatre works by and for people of color. These electrifying, witty, powerful, complex and poignant songs explore a range of stories told by the ones who are meant to tell it- songs about matters pertaining to race and just plain ol' humanity! Curated by Natasha Sinha and Ianne Fields Stewart. Reclaiming Our Time will take place at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St) on Monday, May 20 at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and are available at mtf.nyc/events.
The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today the winners of the 2018 NYMF Awards for Excellence, which were awarded on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Hudson Terrace
The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today further selections for 2018 NYMF. The final invited production as well as a series of developmental readings and concerts will join the initially announced Next Link Projects. Now in its fifteenth year, the 2018 Festival will take place July 9th through August 5th at locations on West 42nd St. in New York City. Dan Markley serves as NYMF Executive Director and Rachel Sussman serves as Producing Artistic Director.
Cape Town Opera opened its 2013 season in April to rave reviews with Verdi's Otello, an international collaboration between Cape Town Opera and five major Australian and New Zealand opera companies, set to tour for five years. Next on the calendar were two short operas from South Africa and Sweden, entitled TWO:30, staged in Cape Town and in Stockholm to critical acclaim.
