The Carbonell Awards adds four new judges to its panel, bringing the total number to 42. These judges will evaluate productions at professional theaters across South Florida.

Gary Schweikhart, board president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida's most highly coveted recognition of theatrical and performance excellence, today announced that Elizabeth Dashiell has joined the nonprofit organization as Carbonell Coordinator for the 2023-2024 season.

Marty's Back in Town!, Playwright Norman Shabel's comedic drama about the ups and downs of a dysfunctional family and their relationships with each other and with the “black sheep” who is returning home after 10 years, will run at the Alan and Diane Lieberman Theatre at the Michael-Ann Russel JCC in Miami from March 9 – 19, and at The Studio at Mizner Park in Boca Raton from March 24 – April 2nd.

Who wins?  Who loses?  A Class Act, Norman Shabel's intriguing and timely look at the inner workings of our justice system will ask and possibly answer these, and other questions when the play runs from March 25th through March 27th at Mizner Park Cultural Center in Boca Raton.

TheatreSouth is proud to bring the compelling legal drama, A Class Act, to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. Written by Norman Shabel, this play focuses on a trio of lawyers who accuse General Chemical Corporation of polluting water across the country through cancer-causing factory runoff. These attorneys are hoping for a big payoff from the deep pockets of the corporation, while the 'suits' at the latter plan to use blackmail as leverage to pay as little as possible.

The Science Theater Company, the newly formed theatre company founded by Producer Eric Krebs that uses the magic of theatre to make science fun, will do just that this spring. That Physics Show - now in its 3rd year Off Broadway - recipient of the 2016 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, written and performed by lifetime physics demonstrator David Maiullo (and his alternate, fellow physics demonstrator Andrew Yolleck) and That Chemistry Show, written by Borislaw Bilash which both delight, amaze and educate audiences will be performed in repertory for an open ended engagement at The Playroom Theater (151 West 46th Street just east of Broadway) beginning, Saturday, February 17, 2018. Due to scheduling conflicts, producer Eric Krebs has announced today A Class Act, the inaugural and relevant new play by attorney and playwright Norman Shabel, will give its final performance on Sunday afternoon, August 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues) where performances began July 9, 2016 followed by Opening Night on July 25, 2016.
