Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre and Artistic Director Rob Melrose has announced changes to its artistic team for the 2024-25 season.

The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre announces the inaugural Alley Transported production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare and directed by Alley Theatre's Artistic Director Rob Melrose.

After having closed its doors to the public in March 2020 due to COVID-19, the Alley Theatre has announced its plans to reopen the theatre in Fall 2021. Reopening the Alley Theatre coincides with its 75th Anniversary Season with performances beginning on October 1, 2021.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has suspended the Alley Theatre's operations, the Theatre has taken the opportunity to pause and make several positive internal changes.

Longtime Alley Theater Company Artist Bettye Fitzpatrick died today at the age of 79

The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation held its 1st Annual Bright Lights, Shining Stars Gala at the Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU and clearly delivered on its promise of a star studded evening of music & dance with one show-stopping number after another. Following cocktails hosted by Honorary Co-Chairs Cassandra Seidenfeld Lyster and Robin Cofer, eager guests flooded into the elegant theater for an evening of unforgettable moments.

Four recent college graduates joined the Alley Theatre staff in December as the first members of the Alley Theatre's Fitzpatrick Internship program. This program was created as a tribute to Bettye Fitzpatrick, who has been integral to the success of the Alley working for over 50 years as a stage manager, production manager, director of interns and most notably as a member of the Acting Company before her retirement in 2009.

Craig Noel, Founding Director of The Old Globe, died at his home in San Diego of natural causes on April 3. He was 94 years old.
