Christmas will be white in Omaha and Philadelphia this year when The Broadway Dreams Foundation presents White Christmas, a celebratory holiday cabaret featuring performances by Broadway's brightest stars and talented local BDF performers. The Broadway Dreams Foundation presented their Third Annual New York Benefit Performance at the Florence Gould Hall (55 East 59th Street) on Monday, November 21, 2011. The special evening, which only happens once a year in NYC, got a spontaneous ovation after a non-stop, 100 minute show, which showed off the talents of BDF students and faculty that assembled from across the country to perform and to show the audience what they were about.

For awhile now, we have been receiving press materials and hearing about The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), but never witnessed the group first-hand. Well, that all changed this past Saturday night, in Philadelphia, when we decided to go to the Kimmel Center and see the 2011 Summer-Intensive weekend showcase, this year titled TRUE COLORS. I can honestly say that our jaws dropped. Directed and hosted by the newest addition to their impressive faculty line-up, Richard Jay-Alexander, the evening was like watching a skillfull PLAYLIST of Broadway 'gold' and 'showstoppers.' Two ACTS worth!

Brilliant move by Artistic Director Molly Smith to revivie classical musical through October 2, 2011

After kicking off the inaugural season of Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, shattering all box office records from Arena Stage's 60-year history and rounding up 10 Helen Hayes Awards nominations, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has returned for a summer run under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. The revival, featuring the entire original principal cast and most of the ensemble, has already broken more company records by selling the highest number of single tickets for a production in 24 hours when tickets went on sale March 3, 2011. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! began performances on July 8, 2011 and opened July 14. The production runs through October 2, 2011 in the Fichandler Stage. Director Matt Lenz (Catch Me if You Can) and a roster of Broadway veterans will work with aspiring young performers from the Atlanta area throughout the week in preparation for 'True Colors,' a one of a kind Broadway concert open to the public. Performances will take place at the Hertz Stage Saturday, June 18th at 2 pm and 7 pm and Sunday, June 19th at 1 pm and 5 pm. Sundance Institute announced today the acting company participating in its 2011 Theatre Lab held at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada from March 27-April 17. The Theatre Lab provides an atmosphere focused on artistic development and collaboration to develop and refine new theatre work with the support of full casts. Building upon the Sundance Institute's history of cultivating international exchange and dialogue, the 2011Theatre Lab projects and participants illustrate and explore the world's most innovative storytelling. A record number 89 artists began their Lab experience on World Theatre Day, bringing works from the United States, Mexico, and Tanzania to the three week workshop. Sundance Institute is grateful for the assistance of the Performing Arts Residency Program at The Banff Centre.
