Brooklyn Art Song Society Announces 2023–24 Season

Brooklyn Art Song Society (BASS) announced its 2023-24 season, which features Circles, a six-part series following friendships between composers throughout history, as well as the return of the Dichter Project and New Voices Festival. Led by Artistic Director Michael Brofman, the organization, which plays a vital role in keeping the tradition of art song alive, presents ten full-length concerts highlighting 37 composers and 56 performers.

14th Annual NYC UNICYCLE FESTIVAL to Take Place Labor Day Weekend

Now in its 14th year, the NYC Unicycle Festival, one of New York City's quirkiest events, will be rolling across New York City once again this Labor Day weekend. Taking place from August 31 – September 3, the event, presented by the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, will see dozens of one-wheeled riders participate in free outdoor activities in this unique end-of-summer tradition.

National Black Theatre Reveals 2023-24 Season 'Defiance of Our Bloom'

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer’s Tony-nominated National Black Theatre (NBT) has announced its 2023-24 season, ‘Defiance of Our Bloom,’ with a theatrical lineup of four productions created in partnership with three leading theaters including Ars Nova, The Apollo Performing Arts Center and The John F. TALES FROM THE GUTTENBERG BIBLE Begins This Week at Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts presents TALES FROM THE GUTTENBERG BIBLE, beginning Tuesday night with a 'Pay What You Can' performance. The show continues nightly in previews with the red carpet opening on Saturday, August 5. The show will run through August 27. 

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein to Maverick Concert Hall Next Month

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein will be presented by Maverick Concerts at Maverick Concert Hall (120 Maverick Rd) on Saturday August 26, 2023 at 6pm. Dinnerstein, who is heralded for her distinctive musical voice and her commitment to sharing classical music with everyone, is the featured soloist in a performance of Bach's Piano Concerto in D Minor with the Caroga Arts Ensemble, conducted by Music Director Alexander Platt.

NYSCA Grant to Bring NYC's LayeRhythm to Catskill

Thanks to a generous grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, LayeRhythm, a NYC-based non-profit organization dedicated to highlighting freestyle voices in the performing arts landscape, will travel to Catskill for a three-week dance residency, to include developmental work on new material, two free workshops, and a public performance.
