Center for Performance Research Has Announced Spring 2020 Season

Center for Performance Research, which supports the development of new works in contemporary dance, performance and related forms is thrilled to announce Dean Moss has been named the organization's Spring 2020 Technical Resident. Dean Moss will be in residence May 4-10 developing Your marks and surface, an evening length solo premiering November 5-7, 2020 at Danspace Project.

LPTW Will Present An Oral History Project With Publicist Irene Gandy at Bruno Walter Auditorium

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Shellen Lubin and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, is producing an Oral History Project event with renowned Broadway publicist Irene Gandy on Monday, February 10 beginning at 6pm in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Admission to the event is FREE and seats are available on a first-come-first-seated basis. Doors will open at 5:30pm.

Jesse Eisenberg to Star in THE INVESTIGATION at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

Theater of War Productions and the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, in partnership with National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, will present a reading of scenes from Peter Weiss' play The Investigation, a searing piece of documentary theater adapted from the Frankfurt Auschwitz Trials of 1963-65 when 22 mid- and lower-level Nazi officials were tried for crimes against humanity in the Auschwitz-Birkenau complex.

EVOLUTION OF A SONERO Returns To Pregones/Puerto Rico Traveling Theater

Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT), in collaboration with Ben DeJesus proudly presents the return of Flaco Navaja's one-man show, Evolution of A Sonero, January 9-19, 2020. Written and performed by Bronx-native actor, singer, and HBO Def Poetry Jam alum Flaco Navaja, Evolution of a Sonero fuses salsa, hip-hop, spoken-word poetry and beatboxing to weave a slice-of-life narrative in a tour de force performance that takes audiences on a musical journey through the streets of New York and beyond. Directed by Pregones/PRTT's Associate Artistic Director Jorge B. Merced, Evolution of a Sonero is part salsa concert and part love letter to the Bronx.

Opera Ithaca Has Expanded Their Apprentice Artist Program

Opera Ithaca has announced that it has been awarded a $45,000 grant over two years from the New York State Council on the Arts and Regional Economic Development Council to amplify and diversify the Apprentice Artist Program. The company is looking forward to welcoming its first class in the revised program starting with the upcoming 2020-2021 season.

Hoff-Barthelson Music School to Host Open House for Early Childhood Program

Start the new year off right by learning all about Hoff-Barthelson Music School's Early Childhood Program - attend an Open House on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 10:00 to 11:30 am! Children ages 6 months to 5 years and their adults are invited to join in the fun of a music and movement class at 10:30 am, followed by a brief Q & A with faculty, and a reception during which you can socialize with other families. In the event of snow, the Open House will be held the following Friday, January 24, 2020 at the same time.

The Kitchen Presents ­STANDING ON THE CORNER: THE GHOSTS OF NIGHT FLOCK

The Kitchen presents The Ghosts of the Night Flock: A Standing on the Corner Art Ensemble Holiday Performance Extravaganza, on December 19. This one-night-only song cycle from the New York-based art ensemble Standing on the Corner will reflect on the mysteries of the season, and the holiday rituals of displaced people that link us back. For this special seasonal concert in a holiday-themed setting, the art ensemble will perform their compositions joined by surprise guests as the angels, ghouls, and ghosts of Christmas past.

Paula Vogel and Daryl Roth Will Be Honored at Vineyard Theatre 2020 Gala

Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern and Managing Director Suzanne Appel announce that the company's 2020 Gala fundraiser will celebrate Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel. The annual benefit Gala will take place on Monday, April 20, 2020, beginning at 6:00pm at 583 Park Avenue. Vineyard Theatre Board Member Sally Horchow will chair the event.

Stunning Puppet-Forward Production PACKRAT Premieres At Dixon Place

Dixon Place presents Concrete Temple Theater's next multi-media puppet-theater creation PACKRAT, written and directed by Renee Philippi with puppetry design and construction by Carlo Adinolfi and an original score by Lewis Flinn. PACKRAT begins performances on Friday, January 31 for a limited engagement through Friday, February 14. Performances are at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street, between Rivington & Delancey). The performance schedule is Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $19 in advance; $22 at the door. (For Students/Seniors/ID NYC: $17 in advance and $20 at-the-door.) The Jewish Museum and FLC Announce the 29th New York Jewish Film Festival, January 15-28

The Jewish Museum and Film at Lincoln Center will present the 29th annual New York Jewish Film Festival (NYJFF), January 15a?"28, 2020. Among the oldest and most influential Jewish film festivals worldwide, NYJFF each year presents the finest documentary, narrative, and short films from around the world that explore the Jewish experience. Featuring new work by dynamic voices in international cinema as well as film revivals, the festival's 2020 lineup includes 30 wide-ranging and exciting features and shorts from the iconic to the iconoclastic, many of which will be screening in their world, U.S., and New York premieres. Screenings are held at the Walter Reade Theater, 165 West 65th Street.
