Folger Theatre presents the world premiere of Confection, an immersive theater piece imagined and performed by New York's acclaimed theater company, Third Rail Projects. Confection is conceived and written by Zach Morris, directed and choreographed by Zach Morris, with Tom Pearson and Jennine Willett, and created in collaboration with the company.

The World Premiere is directed by Melissa Crespo with Opening Night slated for January 19. The limited run features a gender bending cast of 7 actors who have numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway credits.

Robert Richmond is the director of Folger Theatre's upcoming production of Nell Gwynn. Richmond has directed a number of productions for Folger Theatre in DC and served as the Associate Artistic Director of the Aquilla Company in New York City. He currently is the Department Chair and Artistic Director of the University of South Carolina Department of Theatre and Dance.

Behold the year of the woman: 1665. Folger Theatrecontinues its 2018/19 season of characters who 'shake the world' with Nell Gwynn, the Olivier Award-winning 2016 comedy from London about one of the first women to perform on the English stage. Written by British playwright Jessica Swale (Blue Stockings), Nell Gwynn was commissioned by Shakespeare's Globe where it premiered, followed by a celebrated 2016 run on the West End that earned an Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. Robert Richmond (Macbeth, Timon of Athens, Henry V at the Folger) will direct the East Coast premiere of the play at Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Auckland Theatre Company (ATC) will launch its 2019 season in February with a tribute to one of New Zealand's most celebrated political journalists and cartoonists, Tom Scott.

Metal Rabbit Productions in association with Park Theatre present the world premiere of Henry Devas' debut play, We're Staying Right Here, a black comedy exploring issues of male depression and suicide. Jez Pike directs Tom Canton, Danny Kirrane, Daniel Portman, who plays Podrick Payne in Game of Thrones and Liam Smith. The production opens at Park Theatre on 1 March, with previews from 26 February, and runs until 23 March.

The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces a major revival of David Hare's The Bay at Nice. Richard Eyre directs Martin Hutson, Ophelia Lovibond, David Rintoul and Penelope Wilton. The production opens on 19 March, with previews from 14 March, and runs until 4 May. Tickets go on sale to supporters of the Menier on 21 January, with public booking opening at 9am on 28 January.

Strange Sun Theater is pleased to announce the post show talkback schedule for their new production of WICKEDEST WOMAN by Jessica Bashline. The talkbacks will focus on reproductive rights, women's health and help contextualize Ann Trow Lohman's life. Guests from various organizations including Choices Women's Medical Center, The New York Historical Society, Physicians for Reproductive Health, among others, will take part in the discussions.
