Disney Music Group's new a cappella singing sensation, D Cappella made their debut appearance Sunday night on the hit ABC music competition series, 'American Idol.' Theseven-member groupperformed classic Disney songs throughout the show's Disney Night themed episode, including favorites from 'The Little Mermaid,' 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'The Lion King,' and 'Aladdin.' The group's co-creator, music director, arranger and artistic producer is Deke Sharon, aka 'the father of contemporary a cappella' (Entertainment Weekly). Their first national tour will launch in 2019.

My expectations for the premiere of MIDWESTERN GOTHIC at Signature Theatre were so high that the musical itself was bound to fall short, no matter what. But that isn't enough to keep the whole affair from feeling like an interesting concept still in search of a form.
