HER SOUND is a new song cycle that re-imagines ancient stories of women for a more contemporary context of what their stories actually would have been. It is a piece about injustice, sex, misogyny, feminism and the empowerment of women. Imagine if the famous woman truly loved the man whose strength she cut off; Imagine if a wife was not ready to be tied down on an ark without her say; Imagine if a prostitute had her choice to run away from the walls of the city that surrounds her.

Ethan Carlson is an up-and-coming musical theatre composer, and his unique, folky, electric songs have been featured at Don't Tell Mama, 54 Below, the Davenport Theatre and more. He was most recently a finalist in The Foundation for New American Musicals ShowSearch for his musical Blind Flight.

Don't Tell Mama is located at 343 West 46th Street. There is a $12 cover charge plus a two-beverage minimum, cash only. For more information, call (212) 757-0788 or visit http://www.donttellmamanyc.com/shows/main/her-sound-6-2.
