Talkin' Broadway calls the show's writing team of Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk 'the most important young writers in musical theatre today.' This original musical for Broadway's next generation will run from August 4 through 28, 2011 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn., Goodspeed's home for developing new works.

Carney, the band that plays onstage for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark and whose lead singer, Reeve Carney, is the show's star, will open for U2 this summer. As per the band's website, 'Carney will be joining U2 for the last date of their epic 360° Tour alongside Arcade Fire at Magnetic Hill in Moncton, New Brunswick on July 30th 2011'. According to USA Today, Rosie O'Donnell's upcoming talk show for the OWN network has switched time slots, and thus will change up the overall concept of the show. On the show's new 7PM spot, O'Donnell commented: 'we can't do an hour focusing on autism. It'll be fun, games, entertainment, variety.'
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET resumed performances yesterday, July 28, at New World Stages after closing on Broadway on June 12, 2011. This summer, Broadway actors Darlene Love, Julia Murney, Anthony Rapp and Matt Dengler star in 'Free to Dream: New Songs for the American Journey,' a concert specially adapted for Colonial Williamsburg. Television personality Willard Scott also lends his recorded voice to the program, which showcases the people and places that make up the fabric of America with musical styles from country, rock and pop to swing and the blues. It is a compilation of pieces by Grammy-winning composer Doug Katsaros and two-time Emmy-nominated lyricist William Schermerhorn. A nine-piece band accompanies the singers.
BroadwayWorld has learned that MEMPHIS star Chad Kimball will take an indefinite hiatus from the Tony-winning show beginning October 23, 2011 due to nerve damage he's suffered in his neck as a result of performing the demanding role of 'Huey Calhoun' eight nights a week. Kimball created the role 'Huey' and has been bringing him to life at the Shubert Theatre for nearly two years. The nerve damage began to create problems for Kimball a couple of months ago, and he has missed several performances since.
