This time, in continuing its relationship with The Dodgers and their producing partners Carl Levin and Michael Minarik, PlayhouseSquare is proud to present a rare glimpse into the creation of live theater with Fat Camp. Debuting in 2009 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Fat Camp tells the tale of a summer spent at Camp Overton where secrets, sex, s'mores and self-image collide in a coming-of-age rock musical comedy.
Broadway Producer Jed Bernstein ( Driving Miss Daisy, Hair, Equus, Oleanna) , and Broadway actress Emma Zaks ( La Cage Aux Folles, Gypsy, Hair) will be launching a new two-day seminar that will teach up and coming actors the business behind the show as well as audition techniques.
LCT3's production of 4000 Miles, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin, opened last night, June 20 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project. LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. 4000 Miles is the final of three productions during its 2010-2011 season.
The Public Theater began previews on Monday, June 6 for the 2011 Shakespeare in the Park summer season featuring MEASURE FOR MEASURE, directed by David Esbjornson, and ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL, directed by Daniel Sullivan. The two shows will run in repertory with the same company of actors through Saturday, July 30 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Tony Award winning performer Idina Menzel, best known for her roles in Wicked, Rent and Glee, has just added a new date to her tour and will be performing in concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on October 6, Baz Bamigboye has just reported in the UK Daily Mail. Ticket sales officially launch Saturday, June 18. This engagement preceeds a new US tour the songstress is launching in Philadelphia in November, as BroadwayWorld previously reported. Menzel will be touring the country in concert with local symphonies.
This summer, Broadway actors Darlene Love, Julia Murney, Anthony Rapp and Matt Dengler star in 'Free to Dream: New Songs for the American Journey,' a concert specially adapted for Colonial Williamsburg. Television personality Willard Scott also lends his recorded voice to the program, which showcases the people and places that make up the fabric of America with musical styles from country, rock and pop to swing and the blues. It is a compilation of pieces by Grammy-winning composer Doug Katsaros and two-time Emmy-nominated lyricist William Schermerhorn. A nine-piece band accompanies the singers.

Bringing Voices to Light A Benefit Concert to Support Global Internet Access will be presented at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Monday, June 13th at 7PM, featuring Alex Brightman, Adam Halpin, Nadine Malouf, Megan Reinking, A.J. Shively.The evening will feature the original music and lyrics of David Levinson (Les Enfants de Paris, Bàthory, NYMF Next Link Finalist 2009 ) along with some of Broadway's rising talents to sing on behalf of human rights and global digital access.
Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 65th Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced May 3, 2011 by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick and Tony Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 22 theatre professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The 2011 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

A benefit for the Vineyard Theatre's artistic and education programs, playwright Branden Jacobs Jenkins was presented with the Vineyard Theatre's 4th annual Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, given each year to a gifted emerging playwright. This evening the inaugural Celebration of Color on Broadway Awards will take place at SAKS Fifth Avenue (611 5th Avenue) beginning at 6PM. Honoring George C. Wolfe and Ruth and Stephen Hendel for their contributions to diversifying Broadway, the Celebration of Color on Broadway Awards will benefit Harlem's OPUS 118 , a private, non-profit organization that supports music education programs for public school students in low-income areas. In addition to the honors this event will celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Teer, founder of The National Black Theater.

Tony Kushner's THE ILLUSION, directed by Michael Mayer opened on Sunday, June 5, 2011. The production will play through Sunday, July 17, 2011, having extended one week.
