The Laurie Beechman Theatre is very pleased to announce two very special performances of a brand new venture, SIMPLY STREISAND, a celebration of Ms. Barbra Streisand, her legendary career and the music she made famous. SIMPLY STREISAND will take place for two very special performances only, Wednesdays, August 10 and 24 @ 7pm. The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within The West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd St., in the heart of New York's theatre district. BARBRA JOAN STREISAND is among the most commercially and critically successful entertainers in modern entertainment history, with more than 71.5 million albums shipped in the United States and 140 million albums sold worldwide. She is the top-selling female vocal artist in history, and has been awarded two Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards, a Special Tony Award... and the list goes on into infinity.

Streisand has personally raised 25 million dollars for organizations through her live performances alone. The Streisand Foundation, established in 1986, has contributed over 16 million dollars through nearly 1,000 grants to "national organizations working on preservation of the environment, voter education, the protection of civil liberties and civil rights, women's issues and nuclear disarmament." In 2006, Streisand personally donated $1 million dollars to the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation in support of former President Bill Clinton's climate change initiative. In 2008, Streisand gifted $5 million dollars to endow the Barbra Streisand Women's Cardiovascular Research and Education Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Women's Heart Center.

So, Barbra has returned to New York's cabarets! At Simply Streisand, you'll hear music that spans her legendary career, from the tunes she belted out in the small nightclubs of New York, to her 70‘s disco-infused period, straight through to the mega ballads that have come to define her work. Included in the cast of Simply Streisand is a smattering of some of Broadway and Cabaret's most exciting and seasoned talents, including: Lisa Asher (MAC, Bistro Nightlife Award winner), Christina Bianco (Drama Desk nominee, Forbidden Broadway, Newsical), Jim Brochu (Drama Desk Winner, Zero Hour), Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Tony nominee, Avenue Q), Natalie Douglas, Michelle Dowdy (Hairspray), Kevin Dozier (MAC Award winner), Eric Michael Gillett (Broadway's Kiss Me Kate, The Frogs, Sweet Smell of Success), Annie Golden (Assassins, The Full Monty, On the Town, etc), Larry Hamilton, Ashley Hesse, Karen Mack, Cindy Marchionda (Jeff Award winner, Kiss of the Spider Woman), Susie Mosher (Hairspray), Colleen McHugh, Mark Nadler, Christine Pedi, Miles Phillips, Julie Reyburn, Sarah Rice (Sweeney Todd) & Lucia Spina (25th Annual Company Spelling Bee, Legally Blonde, etc). Each evening is hosted by Director Phil Geoffrey Bond, who will fill the audience in on special Streisand facts, rumors, tidbits and out and out gossip. Musical Direction is by Ray Fellman.
