This fall marks the fifth year of the successful partnership between Arena Stage-now home in its expanded venue the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C.-and the Georgetown University Theater and Performance Studies Program.

Welcome to the Shaw Festival's 50th season - one which celebrates the past, while looking enthusiastically forward. As explained by Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell, "This milestone season gives us an opportunity to honour the extraordinary achievements of our past, while creating vivid new signposts for our future, showing how the Shaw Festival will play a leading role in the theatrical conversation of the next 50 years and more."

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the award-winning New York theater troupe Tectonic Theater Project will join the 2010-2011 season with its national tour of The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later. Five performances will be presented in the Kreeger Theater November 19-21, 2010 and will feature many of the original cast members from The Laramie Project.

On August 26, Arena Stage held a reception at Sardi's to celebrate its transition from a regional theater to a national center, the new playwriting residencies and the multi-million dollar expansion/renovation of Arena's historic campus into the Mead Center for American Theater.

Off-Broadway's eleven-time Obie Award-winning Soho Rep - which the New York Times calls the 'downtown powerhouse' - will kick off its 2010-2011 season with Gregory S. Moss' (author of PUNKPLAY) new play ORANGE, HAT & GRACE, directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson (BLASTED, THAT FACE) with previews beginning September 15 prior to an official press opening of September 23; followed by JOMAMA JONES: RADIATE, directed by Kym Moore, with Music Direction by Bobby Halvorson and previews beginning December 28 prior to an official press opening of January 4, 2011; and concluding with the U.S. premiere of Debbie Tucker Green's landmark play BORN BAD directed by Leah C. Gardiner, with previews beginning March 30, 2011 prior to an official press opening of April 7 - all at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street).

District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty will hold a press conference at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., S.W.) to welcome Arena Stage back to their newly expanded theater campus in Southwest D.C. The Mayor, along with city officials and the Arena Stage staff, will celebrate the return on the day of the company's 60th anniversary Monday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) is now accepting applications for Play Group, a vibrant and eclectic group of emerging writers who gather twice a month at Ars Nova to share new work and get peer feedback.

Arena Stage's inaugural season at the Mead Center for American Theater opens with three productions featuring three powerful leading ladies - E. Faye Butler in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! in the company's renovated, iconic Fichandler Stage; Phylicia Rashad in playwright Marcus Gardley's world premiere of Every Tongue Confess in the brand new 200-seat Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle; and Anna Deavere Smith in her one-woman play, Second Stage's production of Let Me Down Easy, which begins its national tour in the freshly refurbished Kreeger Theater.

Mayor of the District of Columbia Adrian Fenty and his wife, Michelle Fenty, will also be Honorary Co-Chairs.

The Williamstown Theater Festival has announced details of its Fridays @ 3 readings series. The Fridays @ 3 series showcases the work of emerging playwrights and runs Friday afternoons at 3:00 during the summer. Admission is $5.
