Arena Stage Announces More Shows For 2011 Season

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the award-winning New York theater troupe Tectonic Theater Project will join the 2010-2011 season with its national tour of The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later. Five performances will be presented in the Kreeger Theater November 19-21, 2010 and will feature many of the original cast members from The Laramie Project.

Soho Rep Announces 2010-2011 Theatre Season

Off-Broadway's eleven-time Obie Award-winning Soho Rep - which the New York Times calls the 'downtown powerhouse' - will kick off its 2010-2011 season with Gregory S. Moss' (author of PUNKPLAY) new play ORANGE, HAT & GRACE, directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson (BLASTED, THAT FACE) with previews beginning September 15 prior to an official press opening of September 23; followed by JOMAMA JONES: RADIATE, directed by Kym Moore, with Music Direction by Bobby Halvorson and previews beginning December 28 prior to an official press opening of January 4, 2011; and concluding with the U.S. premiere of Debbie Tucker Green's landmark play BORN BAD directed by Leah C. Gardiner, with previews beginning March 30, 2011 prior to an official press opening of April 7 - all at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street).

The newest venture of the American Voices New Play Institute launches this fall with Theater 101, an audience enrichment seminar designed to deepen audiences' understanding of the development of new plays. Online registration for the program begins Monday, August 16, 2010. The program will start at the end of September in the Mead Center for American Theater.

District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty will hold a press conference at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth St., S.W.) to welcome Arena Stage back to their newly expanded theater campus in Southwest D.C. The Mayor, along with city officials and the Arena Stage staff, will celebrate the return on the day of the company's 60th anniversary Monday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Faye Butler in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! in the company's renovated, iconic Fichandler Stage; Phylicia Rashad in playwright Marcus Gardley's world premiere of Every Tongue Confess in the brand new 200-seat Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle; and Anna Deavere Smith in her one-woman play, Second Stage's production of Let Me Down Easy, which begins its national tour in the freshly refurbished Kreeger Theater.
