Inspired by director Sacha Gervasi's own experiences, MY DINNER WITH HERVE is a struggling journalist's story of his unlikely friendship with actor Hervé Villechaize, the world's most famous knife-wielding French dwarf, as it unfolds over one wild night in LA – an encounter that will have life-changing consequences for both.
This year, La Chapelle Scenes Contemporaines deepened its mandate as a bilingual venue, going beyond the broadcast of French and English-language works, as we have been doing for a very long time. In addition to presenting creations in several languages, La Chapelle now offers presentations translated into surtitling. For example, Corneille's Le Cid, reviewed by Gabriel Plante, will be showing very soon on our stage in French, but two of these performances will be surtitled in English. While Clean Slate by Leslie Baker and Talisman Theater, will be presented in English with French surtitles on some nights.
La Chapelle Scenes Contemporaines unveiled the detailed program for its four seasons 18-19. True to its mandate, La Chapelle offers a year rich in creation (23 projects on display, in addition to events scheduled in parallel) and welcomes a wide range of artists, emerging or more established, of all disciplines. The season continues in spring 2019 with Mozart's Idomeneo(Apr. 4 13, 2019), starring Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman in her Dora Award-winning performance as Elettra.
