La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines Announces Bilingual Lineup

This year, La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines deepened its mandate as a bilingual venue, going beyond the broadcast of French and English-language works, as we have been doing for a very long time. In addition to presenting creations in several languages, La Chapelle now offers presentations translated into surtitling. For example, Corneille's Le Cid, reviewed by Gabriel Plante, will be showing very soon on our stage in French, but two of these performances will be surtitled in English. While Clean Slate by Leslie Baker and Talisman Theater, will be presented in English with French surtitles on some nights.

Some performances are also alternating between French and English depending on the performance evening (Antonia Baehr's Abecedarium Bestiarium, Gerald Kurdian's Hot Bodies Stand-Up), while others are totally bilingual (Youngnesse de projets hybris, OUFF by Alexis O'hara) or even plurilingual (Intersections by Mireille Camier and Ricard Soler).

This new way of democratizing more the cultural offer of La Chapelle is thus addressed to all; anglophones, francophones, school groups, curious, deaf or hearing impaired persons, etc. For details regarding bilingual, multilingual and surtitled representations, visit lachapelle.org/en/bilingual

Montréal 24 septembre 2018 - Cette année, La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines approfondit son mandat de diffuseur bilingue en allant plus loin que la diffusion d'œuvres francophones et anglophones, comme elle en avait déjà l'habitude. En plus de présenter des créations en plusieurs langues, La Chapelle propose cette saison des présentations traduites en surtitrage. Par exemple, Le Cid de Corneille, revu par Gabriel Plante, sera à l'affiche très prochainement sur notre scène en français, mais deux de ces représentations seront surtitrées en anglais. Alors que Clean Slate de Leslie Baker et Talisman Theatre sera présenté en anglais avec surtitres en français certains soirs.

Certains spectacles sont également présentés en alternance français/anglais selon le soir de représentation (Abecedarium Bestiarium d'Antonia Baehr, Hot Bodies Stand-Up de Gérald Kurdian), alors que d'autres sont carrément bilingues (Youngnesse de projets hybris, OUFF d'Alexis O'hara) ou même plurilingues (Intersections de Mireille Camier et Ricard Soler).
