BWW Review: THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT at the Stratford Festival is Unsettlingly ExhilaratingBWW Review: THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT at the Stratford Festival is Unsettlingly Exhilarating
by Lauren Gienow - Sep 16, 2017

The very last production to ever open at the current incarnation of the Stratford Festival's Tom Patterson Theatre was David Edney's translation of Jean Giraudoux's THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT. Directed by Donna Feore, this was the world premiere of this translation. It boasts an excellent company and it explores themes and issues that are certainly relevant today. (more...)

BWW Review: Stratford Festival's TIMON OF ATHENS is a Powerful Cautionary Tale
by Lauren Gienow - Jun 4, 2017

TIMON OF ATHENS opened at Stratford Festival's Tom Patterson Theatre on Friday night. It is probably one of the more relatable cautionary tales that Shakespeare has produced, which explains why the Festival continues to have it set in modern times. Director, Stephen Ouimette takes this production on for a second time, as he also directed it in Stratford in 2004. I did not have the opportunity to see his previous production, but this one is impressive. (more...)

Stratford Festival Sets Cast for 2016 North American Premiere of SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
by BWW News Desk - Oct 27, 2015

Can a play show us the very truth and nature of the world's greatest playwright? As the Bard's legacy is celebrated around the globe in 2016 with Shakespeare 400, the boisterous new comedy Shakespeare in Love takes a glorious stab at doing just that. But with little known of Shakespeare beyond the dates of his birth and death - both April 23 - the fun is all in the imagining. (more...)

BWW Reviews: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Stratford Festival is an Ode 'To Life'
by Lauren Gienow - Jul 24, 2013

Stratford Festival's production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF leaves very few human emotions un-experienced by its characters and the audience alike. It explores: human values, happiness in everyday life, newfound love, fear of changes-big and small, the agony and frustration that comes from ignorance and discrimination, and the internal conflict of trying to rectify what you believe with what that means for those you love. This musical is about tradition, joy, heartache, change, faith, family, and most of all…LIFE. FIDDLER is a beloved classic, and to say Director/Choreographer, Donna Feore's production does it justice, is an understatement. First class acting, singing, and dancing; beautiful music; clever set design, and…did I say DANCING? This timeless musical is sure to dazzle audiences of all ages. (more...)
