The 8th Annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam is being held tomorrow, Friday, April 27th from 1-4pm at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. Notable Sonnet readers this year include Michael Urie, Dana Ivey, Brian Soliwoda as C.P. Shakes and Perdita, the pigeon, Peter Francis James, American painter Gerri Davis and Award-winning Orchestrator Michael Starobin. The Sonnet Slam features 154 readers of all ages performing all 154 of Shakespeare's Sonnets in numerical order. The event is free to the public. This year, the kickoff Reader for Sonnet #1 will be Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk-winner Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit, Showtime's The Affair).

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has been meeting all year to discuss the eligibility of the 2017-18 Broadway productions all leading up to Tuesdays big announcement... the Tony nominations.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, announced today (April 24, 2018) its nominees for the 2017-18 season. Broadway's "Come From Away" starJenn Colella along with "The Band's Visit" sensation Katrina Lenk presided over the (11AM) announcement ceremony in the Oak Room at New York's renowned Algonquin Hotel (59 W 44th Street). 

Closing out the 2017-18 season, A.C.T. will present the world-premiere musical, A Walk on the Moon (June 6-July 1, 2018),based on the Miramax and Village Roadshow Pictures motion picture of the same name. In the summer of '69, America is on the brink of change. In the cities, crowds are protesting the Vietnam War. In the skies, Apollo 11 is speeding towards the first moon landing.

American Idols and real-life couple, Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young have signed on to star in the upcoming musical, HIT HER WITH THE SKATES, by Christine Rea & Rick Briskin,

Blumenthal Performing Arts announces another extraordinary lineup for its upcoming 2018-19 PNC Broadway Lights season featuring eight new shows including six time 2017 Tony Award and 2018 Grammy Award winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen, Tony-winning Best Musical Revival Hello, Dolly! starring Broadway legend Betty Buckley and the hit Broadway musical Disney's Aladdin.

Quentin Earl Darrington returns to Broadway's smash Once On This Island as Agwe tomorrow Friday March 16 after a brief leave of absence.

Broadway stars Phillip Boykin, Quentin Earl Darrington, Hailey Kilgore, Kenita R. Miller, Alex Newell, Isaac Powell, Lea Salonga and additional cast members of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, along with composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty celebrated the release of the musical's cast album recording (available now through Broadway Records) at Barnes and Noble last night, March 14.

Ken Davenport and Hunter Arnold announced today that the new hit production of Once On This Island will launch a North American tour during the fall of 2019.

Today, Broadway Records released the New Broadway Cast Recording of Once On This Island on CD and digitally through most major music retailers. The album is currently available at www.BroadwayRecords.com, www.Amazon.com and at Circle in the Square Theatre.

A North American Tour is announced today for the Lincoln Center Theater Broadway Production of FALSETTOS, William Finn and James Lapine's groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical. This production was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival when it returned to Broadway in Fall 2016, and this production will tour North America in the coming season.

Stephen Sondheim's Assassins will be revived at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington for a limited 3-week run. Sondheim's charming score goes to dark, bold and hysterical places showing us people who made history by simply pulling a trigger.

Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the second time this season and confirmed the eligibility status of ten Broadway productions for the 2018 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®. The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet a total of four times throughout the 2017-2018 season to decide the eligibility for the 72nd Annual Tony Awards.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Broadway veterans Norm Lewis and Tamyra Gray have just stepped into the roles of Agwe and Papa Ge, in Once on This Island.

Members of the Pit Stop Players, a fourteen-member instrumental ensemble composed of veteran Broadway pit musicians, will join with their significant others to make beautiful music together for Valentine's Day, with Date Night. featuring group members and their spouses performing together.
