The Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s Theater & Arts Honors, HAS announced the recipients of the prestigious George Abbott Award and six Special Awards.

PRIMARY STAGES announced casting for On That Day in Amsterdam by Clarence Coo (People Sitting in Darkness) and directed by Zi Alikhan (The Boy Who Danced on Air). On That Day in Amsterdam will begin previews at 59E59’s Theater A on July 23, 2022, with opening night set for August 11 for a limited run through September 4, 2022.

This season’s Theater Up Close series returns with five extraordinary productions, including two world premieres by Miami playwrights Michael McKeever and Vanessa Garcia, one Florida premiere and the regional premiere of Heidi Schreck’s Pulitzer and Tony Award nominated hit Broadway play What the Constitution Means to Me.

Penguin Rep Theatre announced today the Off-Broadway premiere of Mr. Parker, a new play written by Michael McKeever and directed by Joe Brancato. Performances will begin Wednesday, June 1, 2022, for a limited engagement through June 25, 2022, at Theatre Row – Theatre 1 (410 West 42nd Street). Opening Night is Monday, June 6, 2022, at 7:00PM.

Palm Beach Dramaworks, unable to perform onstage for audiences for 21 months due to the pandemic, begins its season of renewal on December 3 (8pm) with the world premiere of Michael McKeever’s The People Downstairs, a commissioned play that tells the story of the courageous souls who hid Anne Frank and seven others during the Holocaust.

Due to production issues, The Studio Players has replaced their June, 2022 show All New People with CLARK GABLE SLEPT HERE by Michael McKeever.

Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced that single tickets for its long-awaited 2021-2022 go on sale November 1. Originally set to begin performances in October, PBD will now open the season on December 3. The company will perform its full schedule of five plays.

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre has announced that it will reopen its Mainstage series this summer with ¡FUÁCATA! or A Latina's Guide to Surviving the Universe, a humorous one-woman tour de force starring Elena María García. The production will play August 18 - September 12, 2021.
