BroadwayWorld is saddened to learn that playwright Peter Nichols has died at age 92.

San Francisco Opera presents Benjamin Britten's masterpiece of law and order on the high seas, Billy Budd, in six performances at the War Memorial Opera House September 7–22. Based on the unfinished novella by Herman Melville and set to a libretto by E.M. Forster and Eric Crozier, Billy Budd returns to the Company's repertory after a 15-year absence in the “powerful” (New York Times) staging by Tony Award-winning director Michael Grandage. Lawrence Renes conducts the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and an all-male cast of 75 artists, including 44 men from the San Francisco Opera Chorus prepared by Chorus Director Ian Robertson and 8 boys from the Ragazzi Boys Chorus. The performances coincide with the Melville bicentennial and the 100th anniversary of the posthumous discovery of the American author's unfinished manuscript ofBilly Budd.

Caissie Levy was last seen in London in 2012 when she originated the role of Molly in the West End production of Ghost at the Piccadilly Theatre, and went on to perform a two-night residency at the Hippodrome in 2013. She's since originated the role of Elsa in the Broadway production of Frozen. On 15 September, she is back in the UK for one night only, performing at Cadogan Hall as part of Club 11 London's mission to bring Broadway to our capital.

Theatre royalty Lea Salonga concluded her tour with a spectacular last night at the London Palladium. The crowds who gathered to catch a glimpse of the prowess of her voice were treated to 17 pieces that included crowd-pleasers as well as stunning arrangements of beloved songs.

English Touring Theatre today announce the appointment of Lizzie Vogler as Executive Producer. Vogler will be taking on the role from July 2019, whilst Sophie Scull is on maternity leave. Also announced today, Floriana Dezou, Olivia Highland, Renuka Venkatraman, and Igor join the company as trustees. Disney Theatrical Productions and Hollywood Pantages Theatre announced today that tickets for Disney's Frozen will go on sale to the public Tomorrow - Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 10am.  The hit Broadway musical will begin performances in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 for a limited 9-week engagement through Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Following a critically-acclaimed, sold out world premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, global event distributor Trafalgar Releasing today announced plans to bring Between Me and My Mind, a feature-length documentary chronicling the life and music of Trey Anastasio, to movie theaters across North America for a one-night engagement on July 17.

The Donmar Warehouse today announces full casting for Artistic Director Michael Longhurst's inaugural Donmar production Europe by David Greig. Joining previously announced cast members Billy Howle (Berlin), Kevork Malikyan (Sava), Faye Marsay (Adele), Stephen Wight (Billy) and Shane Zaza (Morocco) will be Theo Barklem-Biggs as Horse, Ron Cook as Fret and Natalia Tena as Katia.

Artistic Director of MGC, Michael Grandage today announces the fourth annual MGCfutures Bursary Programme is now open for applications. MGCfutures is a charity, formed in 2012. The bursaries programme was launched in 2016 for arts practitioners who show a commitment to their chosen career and look to progress to the next stage of their development.

 Disney Theatrical Productions has just announced the women who will star in the Frozen North American tour as Elsa and Anna, the heroic sisters at the heart of the joy-filled musical.Caroline Bowman will play Elsa and Caroline Innerbichler will play Anna, with additional casting to be announced in the coming months.
