Two famous actresses are set to perform their versions of a play at the same theater, one day apart. In this quick-witted farce, the author and fellow actors’ issues with these leading ladies seem to be the problems of utmost importance until a Russian revolutionary enters the scene and threatens to blow up the theater.

It's a mad world this summer for the ladies of the Happy Trails baking club, who venture beyond the gates of their retirement community and hit the road. This cross-country expedition is an exploration of the past that brings the four friends closer to together as they visit the place where each lost their virginity.

This weekend, Santa Barbara Shakespeare presents 'As You Like It,' a Shakespearian gender-bent forest frolic, in Montecito's Manning Park. Bring a picnic and a bottle of wine, and join SB Shakes in the Forest of Arden to experience the revelry of one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies.

Two Santa Barbara theatre companies have joined forces to produce WOMEN FORWARD, two plays in rep that celebrate the lives of strong, intelligent women. This dual production, created in collaboration between DramaDogs, A Theater Company and Dogstar Theater Company, includes Edward Albee's drama THREE TALL WOMEN and Peter Shaffer's comedy, LETTICE AND LOVAGE. Both plays, produced in rep, focus on the empowerment of the female-not in response to male animosity, but as a function of the natural female experience. Directed by DramaDogs' Ken Gilbert and Dogstar's Nita June Davanzo, these two companies will share the stage at Center Stage Theater September 7th-16th.

The Producing Unit presents a staged reading of American Dreams, a performance piece exemplifying the broad and varied brands of "American" living. Directed by Peter Frisch and featuring Bill Egan, Tom Hinshaw, Meredith McMinn, Robert Riechel, Jeremy Tristan, and Ivy Vahanian, this series of monologues from a dozen different characters invites audiences to consider the very concept of the "American Dream," and how this socially constructed entitlement varies for each individual-yet exists consistently as a vital thematic goal.

On Friday, November 5, Genesis West of Santa Barbara will present the modern American masterpiece, Curse of the Starving Class by Sam Shepard with a newly revised edition by the playwright. A major work by one of contemporary theatre's most respected and celebrated writers; Time Magazine said, 'It may be his best.' Winner of the Obie Award for best play. The Village Voice called it, 'Epic, unpredictable and deliriously ironic'. Genesis West's production of this brilliant dark satire will be the Santa Barbara premier. The production will run through November 20, 2010 with performances Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm at Center Stage Theater.
